With the recent price changes applied to the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup, the starting price of the off-road-focused 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 is creeping up to $70,000.
When the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 pricing was first announced, GM charged $66,795 for the pickup including the destination freight charge (DFC) of $1,695. The automaker then came out with revised prices for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup in early March, which included a higher $67,995 starting price for the ZR2. It wasn’t done there, though, as the automaker returned with yet another round of price increases for the nameplate late this month, which saw the ZR2’s base price rise once again to $69,295 with DFC. After taxes and other associated purchase fees, U.S. buyers of the Silverado ZR2 will pay well over $70,000 all said and done.
Silverado ZR2 Late March 2022 MSRP | Silverado ZR2 Early March 2022 MSRP | Silverado ZR2 Order Start MSRP | |
---|---|---|---|
MSRP | $69,295 | $67,995 | $66,795 |
Since the Chevy Silverado ZR2 now starts at nearly $70,000, it’s getting pretty close to the Ford F-150 Raptor’s MSRP of $70,370. In addition it now costs more than the redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, which starts at $68,455. The Ram 1500 TRX is significantly pricier, starting at $78,575, but it’s also much more powerful than the Silverado ZR2. The Ram TRX is actually priced closer to the more lavishly-appointed GMC Sierra AT4X, which starts at $77,395. All listed prices here, including those for rival offerings, including the manufacturer’s destination charge.

The Chevy Silverado ZR2 is a new variant of the Silverado that comes standard with a long list of off-road-focused parts, including Multimatic DSSV dampers, retuned springs, front and rear e-lockers, a steel front bumper with removable end caps, 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires, underbody skid plates and a revised dual exhaust that has been relocated to exit in front of the rear bumper. The only powerplant offered is GM’s naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which is paired with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

What. A. Joke.
Hehehe
Quit using Shockandawe’s name you’re not the real Shockandawe. I’m sick of this.
I agree. I like this more than the Raptor because it’s less bro than a Raptor but it doesn’t have as much done to it as a Raptor so it should cost less.
So it’s like I like it because it’s good enough and cheaper than a Raptor…only it’s not cheaper. Lol.
Who knew that ordering in December would have “paid off”… Glad I did.
That being said, they’re quickly pricing this truck out of its league.
I wish you luck and hope you chose a good dealer. With the current BS going on right now, if you chose a bad dealer, when your ordered vehicle finally arrives, don’t be surprised if your delivery price is jacked up to the higher MSRP with an additional $20,000/$30,000 market adjustment tacked on.
Stingray Chevrolet In Plant City Florida
No markup. Employee Pricing.
Gave me a We Owe in December
MSRP 71,055 for a Loaded Truck. GMEP 64,599
Truck as configured MSRP is 73,050 on Build and Price.
Nice deal, I’ve been over there it’s a nice dealership with good folks.
I’m going to have to wait until a 2023 – and hope there’s some deals available.
Just a couple more months of this high fuel prices will put the real pinch on truck and SUV buyers.

Rent free.
Does Stingray Chevrolet give everyone employee pricing.
I use to get GM supplier pricing same as employee pricing.
For our company. I am also in Florida .
I qualify for GMEP. If you are GMS they will honor that as well with a valid code. A guy I know is also buying a High Country through me at GMS at Stingray.
This is what you end up with when Gm backs the democrats. We’re in this mess because of one man let’s go Brandon
Why is the ft Wayne in. and Silo Mexico plants shutting down.
Because of a lack of microprocessor chips for components.
Who’s Brandon?????
The Boogie Man for people with cable news-induced mental illness.
So, you’re in deep-deep denial about the state of things.. 🙄
Rent free.
The prices on all the trucks listed are all way to high.
chevy fans don’t worry 70K today for a truck most people cant really afford, next year its worth 45K and when this market catches up and every body’s government money is gone and the market is flooded with vehicles , and the dealer is offering 30K on a trade in 3 years and they still owe 45K . this same truck was 50k new 3 years ago. inflation , old Joe, snowflakes, hunter, you all got what you voted for, but theres no more mean tweets.
Kind of leaning to that hope. Right at the start of lockdowns in April 2020 I bought an ATV and boat from their owners who were laid off. Got great deals, unfortunately at their expense.
Hoping to do similar on a 12-18 month old truck in the next, well, 12-18-24 months.
Trucks don’t depreciate like that, sorry Altima owner
If only the self declared “Stable Genius” was still in office. We’d be on easy street. LOL!
I think it should be more like $55K.
GM trucks weren’t cheap even in the Bush years, don’t know what the current administration has to do with it. As for “affordable” I remember even in ’16 a SWB Denali was running $79k, the dealer was giving $5-10k off but once trader time came in ’21 the same truck was probably $50k+, resell and retention is another game is played. If you can’t afford the initial price either save your money or get a nice used vehicle.
With that statement I rather have a more affordable sedan or base truck so I can beat it up and not worry about resell..
It will be over 75k after TTL & dealer mark up. Insanity
Nice looking truck but way out of my price range.
I can’t wait to see a modded Silverado ZR2
Look you asked for a full size off road truck loaded with trick features and a big engine well it is here so don’t Bi$tch.
Nothing is cheap anymore as everyone wants to get rich working at Walmart.
If you still want a cheaper off road truck get the Trail Boss and add your own lift, tires and Diffs.
Or go get the Colorado ZR that can be had for much less and is a very good truck for the money.
On the web it is so easy to say ya just build it. But the truth is too often if they build it no one will pay the price. So be careful of what you wish or ask for.
Welcome to the real world! The average price of a vehicle is well over $40K today.
if no one will pay the price, the price should come down. The prices are not dropping, so that means your statement is incorrect.
My comment are to those saying it is too much or too expensive.
I never said it is not selling.
Glad I bought a 2021 Colorado ZR2.
According to the US Department of Labor Statistics, the US has not had an inflation rate this high in ~42 years. Over the past year and a half, we have seen items like beef, fish, poultry, electronics, vehicles, steel, aluminum and iron, increase by 35-38%
This is fun!
I have noticed the price on the 2022 Silverado RST is six thousand more sense I purchase
My 2019 Silverado RST it’s the same truck with little change come on GM .
Add all the opts the $5000 mark up tax lic $795 bs dealer doc fee in some states $85-$90 out the door might as well go diesel
On the diesel once a year change the fuel filter and the water Seperator filter also the cost of the def fluid and at 100k the engine. You have to replace the timing chain and other components
Is 70K the new 45K… Companies today are raising cost during inflation due to the back-end supply chain and logistical stupidness of the gov’t. The real issues haven’t hit yet when corporations are hit with higher taxes that either send jobs overseas to reduce labor costs for the tax increase and or both pass that additional tax increase onto consumers to make up for the tax increases. This gov’t continues to spend and print money….
Having said that, do the parts really cost that much to raise the cost from 45K to 70K or higher… SUV’s costing 85K to 105K… I guess it takes one person to buy at that price and set the price going forward.
Glad GM some what stepped up but the price doesn’t make much sense. It would honestly make better since to buy a Raptor over the ZR2 or AT4. I would buy a Raptor, flip it and go buy a Trail boss. The price, capability and resale value of the Raptor puts it on a level by itself. Just being honest.
This article is out of date as the F150 also has had price increases for this year.
The new Federal budget proposed this week has the corporate rate rising to 28%. If it passes you can be sure vehicle base pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
I’m as disgusted with these prices as the next guy but this article is a bit deceiving. A 2022 $70,370 Raptor is a Unicorn. I just searched and couldn’t find one. The cheapest one I found was a strip down model for 76K and they are few and far between. The average Raptor I found was going for 85k+, many were in the 90k range with a few over 100K. A loaded ZR2 is ridicules at 69k, but still 15k+ lower than the Average Raptor price.
I have seen used Raptors in the 70’s crazy.
I called it when they announced that the ZR2 will be coming out. I said 70-75k not to mention dealer markups. The sad part is, morons will pay it.
Just read article that EVs going up in price like crazy cause precious metals costs are rising fast. Cost of mining rising, too. What isn’t rising?
AND….. just like that.. I’m out… GM’s pricing policy of, “whatever its stupid customers are willing to bear” on vehicle prices, is literally out of control. Add Mary to the list of women CEO’s who ruined a company.. And no, biden* isn’t a woman, just a wrecking ball in his own right.
They’re used to people expecting 10k off prices but have gotten used to getting retail. So they shot prices up another 10k, so we still pay retail even when they take 10k off.
70 large for something with hideous wheels and 1970’s era gas mileage. LOL
I love GM and Marry Barra
Hi, own a 1995 Chevy S 10 ZR2, 1995 brocure picture!!!!!!!
