Shortly after GM Authority exclusively reported the debut of the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 in Mexico on March 16th, General Motors officially launched all versions of Chevrolet’s full-size pickup in the Latin American country. The automaker has just revealed all the features and final configurations of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado and Cheyenne for the Mexican market.
The updated 2022 Chevy Silverado and Cheyenne are set to go on sale in Mexico in late April with significant design, technology and configuration updates on both nameplates. The biggest news for the refreshed models is the introduction of the all-new ZR2 edition on the range-topping Cheyenne, and the availability of the Silverado’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine on for the first time in that country.
“Legendary Chevrolet pickups continue to evolve to stay at the forefront of the segment, giving loyal customers and new owners the best features expected in a pickup,” said Chevrolet Mexico Marketing Manager, Yammil Guaida, in a statement. “We will have a package for every requirement, from the introduction of the ZR2 for the Cheyenne to the new Silverado Turbo which, for the first time, features an exclusive turbocharged engine that delivers best-in-segment torque,” he added.
In Mexico, the new 2022 Chevy Silverado will maintain the Work Truck and Custom trim levels in Regular Cab and Crew Cab body configurations. Meanwhile, the 2022 Chevy Cheyenne reduced its trim level lineup from five to four. Although the restyled model added the new ZR2 off-road variant, the 2022 Cheyenne will not be available in Trail Boss and LTZ versions.
Mechanically, the 2022 Chevy Silverado for the Mexican market will get the 5.3L L84 V8 engine as standard in Regular Cab configuration, and the turbocharged 2.7L L3B I4 engine as standard in the retail customer-focused Crew Cab, reversing the formula in the case of fleet customers. For its part, the 2022 Chevy Cheyenne will be sold exclusively with the 6.2L L87 V8 in the new ZR2 and the High Country.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado and Cheyenne will begin arriving at official dealerships in Mexico at the end of next month, offering new technology and safety equipment along with a revised and more modern cabin in the uplevel Cheyenne variants. The units of both trucks for that country will continue to be manufactured locally at the GM Silao plant.
These are the suggested prices of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado and Cheyenne in Mexico, noting that the new ZR2 version is hierarchically positioned below the High Country trim:
- Silverado Regular Cab: 799,900 MXN (about $38,980 USD at the current exchange rate)
- Silverado Crew Cab: 871,900 MXN ($42,480 USD)
- Silverado Custom: 971,900 MXN ($47,350 USD)

It looks just a little bit different than the American variant…
So let me get this straight,my dealer can’t even order me a trail boss because gm won’t give them any allocations but their opening up their sales to a third world country?Unbelievable…
LMAO… @DEIVIS CENTENO, why don’t write – why we care about overseas selling when the dealer lots are empty here and an excessive backlog of client orders take 10 months to ship… NOW, that would be a worthwhile read.
G. M. Should get with the program, in being able to order what color of vehicle you want in any vehicle product by G. M. Plus more options add-ons. Like other vehicles manufactured!
