General Motors has released a new ad for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup starring NBA legend and Hummer EV spokesman LeBron James.
This ad, titled ‘King of Crabwalk’, turns the spotlight on the 2022 GMC Hummer EV’s unique ‘Crabwalk Mode’, which enables the vehicle to do a sideways “crab walk” by turning all for of its wheels in the same direction and applying a small amount of forward thrust.
The ad, which uses humor to grab viewers’ attention, begins by showing a band of funny-looking CGI crabs collectively doing a sideways shuffle through a busy metropolitan area. They eventually arrive at LeBron James’ house, with the NBA star seen sitting in his driveway in the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup. When he spots the crabs, he flips the vehicle into “Crabwalk Mode” and demonstrates its ability to crab walk just like the crustaceans can.
The Crabwalk Mode demonstrated in this ad may be good for maneuvering tight off-road trails, enabling the Hummer EV to traverse around obstacles that would otherwise block its path. The feature could also be used to maneuver this large truck in an urban environment, or simply to wow onlookers, as we saw a GM employee do at Woodward Dream Cruise last year.
LeBron James was cast in to promote the GMC Hummer EV Pickup from the vehicle’s inception, with the basketball star appearing in the initial run of Super Bowl teaser ads that GM released for the vehicle early last year. He has since starred in a handful of different advertisements for the battery-electric truck and also promoted the vehicle through his personal social media pages.
“You know GMC should be extremely proud of themselves of the build of this beast,” James said of the Hummer EV in a previous GMC promotional video. “The details inside and the exterior is second to none. Obviously, you know they spent a lot of hours on making sure the quality and detailing of this vehicle is amazing. And for it to be all-electric, for it to still have that power and that presence of a Hummer, don’t be surprised when you see me rolling down the street in this.”
The GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 entered production at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan late last year, with deliveries set to ramp up throughout this year. The GMC Hummer EV SUV, which utilizes the same Ultium Drive powertrain and Ultium lithium-ion battery technology as the pickup, will also join the GMC portfolio in 2023.

It angers me to see companys embracing thugs and criminals such as Ice Tea who released the song Cop Killer in the 90’s which has language that is unforgivable yet he is used to endorse Car Shield (which is a rip off) and is accepted in the acting community. Then you have Snoop Dog a criminal on stage at the Super Bowl flashing gang signs and releasing a song recently calling for murdering law enforcement. Add to that a basketball player worth 850 million crying about inequality, he is the wrong voice for that discussion. So much pandering by corporations (that have no souls) and society to certain groups who do not always deserve or who have not earned it.
I’m of the same thought DON. I plan to purchase basically only GM Electric Vehicles in the future (I currently own 3 GM plug-ins) – since they seem to be the most reliable and the greatest value..
However – I also have to ‘hold my nose’ when I sign the check for these things, since I know I’m supporting an Amoral Company – one who goes out of its way to state that they are not AMERICAN any longer.
Hopefully they don’t make any further transition into the “Woke” category – or whatever seemingly is ‘in vogue’ at the moment by the Powers That Be. If they completely turn into my enemy – its no more GM’s for me.
