The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 was introduced in October of last year, revealing a long list of updates and changes for the popular light-duty pickup truck. Now, GM Authority is revealing the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 recommended trim level mix for dealers.
To note, the recommended trim level mix is specific to inventory orders, that is, vehicles for in-store inventory, which is different from sold orders.
Looking over the recommended mix, it appears as though General Motors expects the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT to be the most to be the most popular trim level, making up a quarter of the total mix. The SLT trim is a mid-range model, and is equipped with a 13.4-inch diagonal center touchscreen and 12.3-inch diagonal Driver Information Center, offering 20-inch wheels and 10-way power-adjustable front bucket seats with leather, heating, and ventilation as optional.
Coming in at a close second is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, making up 23 percent of the total mix. The Denali trim is equipped with a Signature Grille design with a polished chrome finish, as well as a wealth of high-end cabin features and options, such as Denali Premium suspension, plus authentic open-pore wood, brushed aluminum trim, and perforated leather upholstery.
Following the Denali with the third highest mix percentage is a tie between the GMC Sierra AT4 and GMC Sierra Elevation, both at 16 percent. The Elevation slots in around the lower end of the mid-range in the trim level lineup, equipped with a monochromatic exterior and black gloss grille, as well as unique 20-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the AT4 is equipped with a 2-inch suspension lift with Rancho monotube shocks, skid plates, an automatic locking rear differential, and a two-speed AutoTrac transfer case.
Interestingly, the two new trims, the AT4X and Denali Ultimate, make up 5 percent and 9 percent of the mix, respectively. Check out the complete trim level mix recommendation for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 right here:
Trim Level | Percent |
---|---|
Pro | 1 |
SLE | 5 |
Elevation | 16 |
SLT | 25 |
AT4 | 16 |
AT4X | 5 |
Denali | 23 |
Denali Ultimate | 9 |
Total | 100 |
With regard to the engine specs, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered with four powertrain options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (now producing 430 pound-feet of torque), the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

I have a SLE crewcab 4×4 on order since feb 7 in Alberta Canada and still havent got pricing or a Order code or build date yet?
I ordered a 4SB AT4 on February 3rd through the dealer and had an order # the same day. Ontario Canada.
I ordered a ultimate in September & have no $ or delivery date
I would check… could not order a refreshed until after Oct 21..
I ordered a 2022 sierra in September 2021 , and finally picking it up tomorrow. Pretty sad it took 5 months.
You ordered a limited… refreshe21….d could not be ordered until after Oct 21.
Yeah sounds like you aren’t going to get the truck you are expecting
I ordered a 22 Denali Ultimate on Oct. 21st 10 minutes after they opened for reservations and got a call 2 weeks ago from my dealer to come in and customize my order to “be ready when they give the ok to start”, which i was told at the end of Feb or early March…. but it would not be ready until about June when they actually starting being sent out to dealers. plus I was 3rd on the list at my dealer and I ordered 10 minutes after opening like I said so if you ordered this year, good luck getting one this year…….
When will we see an actual real world shot of the SLT? Between the grill and the wheels this one circulating has to be bogus.
And engine mix! 50% 2.7 20% 5.3 20% 3.0 10% 6.2
DEMAND FOR THE 2.7 exceeded all expectations!!!!
My Chevy dealer told me the Silverado ZR2 was going to be 5% of the builds as well. I like the looks of the AT4X more, but that pricing is just ridiculous. I’d get a Raptor for that much or just get a ZR2 for less money.
Sigh it’s not what GM expects to sell it’s more like what GM will produce for its mix. Just another “justification” to axe another new trim due to “low sales figures” when really it’s GMs lack of building more so that dealers can mark them up so high they don’t sell. RIP AT4X and ZR2
I like how the GMC AT4 gets 16% of the sales mix but the cheaper Silverado Trail Boss only gets 10% of the sales mix. Seems like a money grab to me.
Did GMAuthority publish the Silverado Recommended Trim Mix? Where did you find those numbers?
Perfect truck for me would be the AT4X with the diesel, but GM had to go screw that one up. Just because I can afford an expensive truck doesn’t mean that I want to spend $$$$$ at the pump every week.
I’m probably going to get the AT4, throw on a set of real coilovers (fox) with some billet camburg uppers, banks derringer on the Duramax, and s&b intake. It will cost about the same as the AT4X but at least I will get a diesel.
1% for the PRO. It’s going to be a unicorn. Why not just release a statement that GMC doesn’t want to sell trucks to people that use them for work.
It’s not that they don’t want to sell the base work trucks, it’s that very few people buy either the GMC Pro or the Chevy WT, especially in 1/2 ton form. I bought my Denali from a dealer that specializes in commercial trucks, stocking every thing up through Chevy 6500’s, and Low Cab Forward’s. They usually keep one or two 1500 WT’s and Pro’s in stock, but most people buying a base truck for work, usually opt the 2500’s. Most small contractors, plumbers, etc, buying a 1500, seem to go for the higher trims, mainly the Custom, LT, Elevation, etc. The WT’s and Pro’s are usually only bought by fleets or larger companies.
any word on manufacture dates
Feb 21 at the Mexico plant and March 14 at the Fort Wayne plant.
Let’s hope they started on time!! Also hope mine comes from Indiana
It seems that finding a nice non-Ultimate Denali won’t be very difficult, but I’d like to see the differences between the regular Denali and the Ultimate other than the dark chrome and the brown interior, or if you will be able to get the Ultimate in other interior colors.
The Ultimate only comes with that brown interior and is not available in any other Sierra model. The Ultimate has every available option included: carbon pro bed, full technology package with super cruise, kicker sound system in tailgate, 22” wheels, massage seats…
Interesting, they suggest the 20″ wheels….I am trying to order a Carbon Pro AT4X from my dealer, but when the 20″ wheels are added, it removes the Carbon Pro is removed.
You should probably check to see if they are ordering the AT4X or the AT4. The X model is not available with the carbon pro bed, only the steel bed with kicker speakers.
They don’t want to build what we want, they only want to build what they want and then Bragg about it, like the 2.7. I won’t buy it.
I want an AT4X, for the better seats, the seats in the current trucks are flat and hard compared to my previous 2011 2500 HD, but I want the 6.5 foot bed. After having the additional 12″ of bed space, the 5.5′ bed just doesn’t cut it. But they only offer the AT4X in 5.5′ bed so I guess I’m S.O.L.
The best bang for your buck here is the elevation. Looks the cleanest in my opinion and you can get leather sunroof diesel max tow etc etc. Thats what I ordered. Can’t wait to get rid of my gas guzzling 5.3.
That’s exactly what i would order. Unfortunately, a must have for me is power folding mirrors and I am told that option is not available.
Perfect combo, however, was hoping for the power pedals to return for my 5ft wife. Sadly changing brands it looks like.
I wish GM dealers would stock more doublecabs with the Max trailer package.I will not order one without the exact price.Another gotca by GM .Matbe a Ford in my future.
Would anyone have information on why GMC Sierra SLTs no longer have trailer mirror as an option but the Chevy Silverado LTZ does? I built my pickup in December and was accepted by GM as built but apparently they recently removed the trailer mirror option without the dealer or me knowing. I only knew/asked about it because I saw a note on nada guides website when playing with their configurator. The statement below is from the nada guides website for the trailer mirrors. My dealer had no clue this occurred until I called them about it and they talked to their district GM rep but didn’t get an answer of why or if it would be a retrofit since it was an option I added in December.
(No longer available to order. Requires (PED) Sierra Safety Plus Package.)
*No Longer Factory Orderable, See Dealer for Current Availability*
Discussed with my dealer yesterday. GM is only accepting orders for specific trims. AT4, SLTs and Denali trims are accepted by GM to start the manufacturing process. The Dealer has not been informed when the other trims will be released. He was able to give me a price on the Ultimate we reserved but not a manufacturing date.
In the last two weeks, there have been 32 trucks made in the nation. That’s all
How do you have that information should that increase over time?
For me it might be my time to buy a Ford.Working on all brands since1966 I am not Partial to one make.I can tell you stories on them all 60 and counting.
Normaly I buy a new car and truck every 2 to three years but that is changing because I am one of them people that look at them all.Mine at present,2018 Impala v6.Replaced a Pontiac which I liked better.Impala is off there making list. Not enough of us old guys buying them so they stopped making them. Maybe a new Honda Accord is in my future for my wife.I will keep my Silverado no trips the last two years and the Covid hit my family hard. All ,of us have had it and I almost lost my wife to it.Transplant patients have it the worse because of no immune system.Maybe I will return to owning a Harley before a nursing home or dealth.A great life I have had To many accidents drag racing in my younger years.
I do not like the game our auto makers are having.I think this goes for a lot of people because I see more Hondas,Toyotas,Kia and other foreign based cars and trucks and hearing good things about them.
Our money problems in the USA started with uncontrolled trade and it has taken away almost all of our INDEPENDENCE in the USA.I have been looking at trade balance since the first Toyotas came to town. The worst is yet to come.Russia has already started WW3.Once Putin gets away with killing his people we are next.I firmly believe this because as stupid as us humans are we repeat History.
My advice bend over and kiss your ass goodbye because the nukes are already locked and loaded and pointing in our direction.
