Under the hood, the 2022 GMC Sierra HD is offered with two engine options, including the atmospheric 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbo-diesel Duramax, rated at 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Handling the cog swaps for the gasoline engine is the GM six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engine mates with the Allison-branded GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 2022 GMC Sierra HD rides on a more-capable version of GM’s T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

Still just a detailed rumour, not a confirmed fact. We heard it in late Sept and 5 months later, nothing more.
We purchased a 2022 GMC 2500 HD Denali on Dec 2. My truck is complete chip and all and sitting in Flint MI. GMC refuses to deliver it. I am 9 hours from the truck and can not get it. We paid for it in full to GMC and have a note from our local bank. Other dealers in the area are receiving deliveries from GMC regularly. They call me to see if I want to buy one, I’m on a list. I’m not sure if they are holding my very expensive truck because we are veterans. I have called and filed with BBB and nothing. I am paying my bank and GMC is holding our truck for some reason. They say customer service is important clearly it is not. Guess we picked the wrong manufacturer to buy with. It was our retirement truck. I even got a note from the VP of sales at GMC corporate who said and I quote “We promised to take care of you and your Sierra HD Duramax diesel today and well into the future” I’m going to have to say this is not taking care of your customers. Not that anyone at GMC cares.
