GM’s Wuling Hongguang S Now Available In Forza Horizon 5: Video

The latest over-the-air update for the hugely popular Forza Horizon 5 arcade racer has added a number of new Chinese vehicles to the game, including General Motors’ own 2013 Wuling Hongguang S microvan.

The Wuling Hongguang S, also referred to as the Wuling Sunshine, is an affordable multipurpose vehicle that was introduced by GM’s second Chinese joint venture, SAIC-GM-Wuling, back in 2013. This nicely equipped ‘S’ variant received some small technical upgrades over preceding Hongguang models (the nameplate was first introduced by Wuling way back in 2002), including anti-lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution. Power comes from a rather tepid 1.2L four-cylinder  gasoline engine producing 82 horsepower, which sends power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.

While the Wuling Hongguang S may not sound like a very fun car to drive in an open-world arcade racing game such as Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft says players will “certainly maximize its potential after an engine swap and various upgrades.” This would suggest that, like most other cars in Forza, a wide variety of engine upgrades and even engine swap options will be available for the Hongguang S in the game. Forza Horizon 5 also allows players to upgrade their vehicle’s chassis, suspension, brakes and transmission, and apply cosmetic upgrades including body kits, spoilers, wheels and more.

The Hongguang S was added to Forza Horizon 5 through the game’s recent Series 4 update, which also introduced a number of other Chinese vehicles including the battery-electric Nio EP9 hypercar and 2015 MG MG3 hatchback. Players can access these vehicles in the game now.

The teaser trailer embedded below gives us a more in-depth look at the latest vehicular additions to Forza Horizon 5, so be sure to check it out and happy racing, Forza fans.
