General Motors has resolved the supply issues that led to heated rear seats being unavailable on the 2022 Buick Enclave mid-size crossover, GM Authority has learned.
Starting with the February 21st production date, the heated second-row outboard seats will no longer be under a supply constraint due to the microchip shortage. The availability of this feature has been limited since the November 15th production date, but will now return as normal.
The heated second-row outboard seats for the 2022 Buick Enclave carry RPO code KA6 and typically come standard in the mid-grade Premium and range-topping Avenir trim levels. The feature is not available to order on the entry-level Essence trim.
While GM has resolved its supply issues for the heated outboard rear seat feature, the 2022 Buick Enclave is still facing other similar chip-related equipment shortages. As it stands, there are still constraints on the Park Assist feature, along with the heated steering wheel and power-folding third-row seats. Due to the chip shortage’s unpredictable and constantly changing nature, it’s currently not clear when these features will return.
This change was not specific to the Buick brand, with GM also removing heated seats, ventilated seats, and heated steering wheels from certain Chevy vehicles and GMC vehicles, as we reported previously. We expect these features to slowly return to GM vehicles throughout 2022 as the chip supply improves. GM CFO Paul Jacobson said recently he expects the worst of the chip shortage to have subsided by late 2022.
The 2022 Buick Enclave continues with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine. Output from the V6 is rated at 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm, with power sent through GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available.
