Cadillac Racing has released more teaser images of its new Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) race car that it will field in IMSA and the FIA WEC from 2023.
The future Cadillac prototype was previously referred to as a ‘Le Mans Daytona Hybrid’ prototype, or LMDh, however IMSA has since decided to refer to its new prototype category as Grand Touring Prototype – a reference to the iconic IMSA GTP class of the 1980s and early 1990s, which helped establish IMSA as the world-renowned sports car racing series that it was today. The equivalent category in the European FIA WEC series will still be referred to as Hypercar.
Cadillac first showed off a rendering of its new GTP race car last year, which revealed the low-slung prototype’s rear fascia and taillights. These new renderings show the vehicle’s sculpted front fascia, along with its unique LED headlights and front fender. The Cadillac GTP will be based on a carbon fibre chassis manufactured by Italian supplier Dallara and will be powered by an all-new, yet-to-be-announced Cadillac engine, which will be paired with the mandated GTP common hybrid system supplied by IMSA.
Rory Harvey, vice president of Cadillac, said the automaker’s commitment to GTP is indicative of its customers’ appreciation for racing and performance.
“Cadillac has a long history of performance success on and off the track which drives excitement for our fans and customers,” Harvey said. “That excitement was never more evident than last year when we saw extraordinary demand for the V-Series Blackwings right after they were revealed.”
Chris Mikalauskas, lead exterior creative designer for Cadillac, said the race prototype will integrate various Cadillac styling cues, “such as vertical lighting and floating blades,” among more. The prototype also utilizes the monochromatic version of the American luxury’s brands shield logo.
Cadillac will unveil its new GTP racer this summer ahead of its competition debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona next January. While it will mainly compete in IMSA in the United States, it will also be eligible to race for the overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to an agreement between IMSA and race organizers at the Automobile Club de l’Ouest in France.

Just show the 5ucking celestiq already
Relax good grief. Are you planning on buying one?
I too want to see the Celestiq.!
Are you an idio t to ask questions like that?
According to your d umb logic you are watching this thread to buy this model shown above.
Think before u open your mouth.
And yes, italian is correct. Lots of people here are dying too see that model..
I’m the idiot but you can’t even spell correctly lol
An idiot is a person demanding for a website who has nothing to do with the official gm to show a vehicle that has not been revealed.
How can this forum show something that the actual company has not shown yet? You realize this is not the official gm right?
So… lets all come and read about a combustion engine RACE CAR…
And then argue over a future EV 4-passenger road car… ??
I guess the next article about the next Corvette model, will bring comments about new EV Chevy pick-up trucks…
It all just seems “Off-Topic”…
Agreed
This race model would make an excellent candidate as a super low volume hyper-exotic.
This will be a good car to race in Europe. This will be a very popular class at Le Mans.
No it would make a horrible exotic as it is a real race car and is not engineered for the street. Just look up the stories on the street legal 962 Porches they are tough to drive and make poor road cars. They do look cool in traffic though.
I’m looking forward to see it race against the Peugeot 9X8 LMDh „Hypercar“.
At the 24 hours of Le Mans 2023?
but gm has no interest in hybrids so they are pouring development money into something we’ll never see on the road.
Steve there is no full EV class in either series as batteries and 24 hours don’t mix well.
But they can show off 5heir electric tech in these cars.
Most in class will not be selling Hybrids.
Looks and sounds good…looking forward to see the next gen racing at Daytona and LeMans.
