Cadillac Low In Consumer Reports Automotive Brand Ranking

Cadillac showed room for improvement in a recent analysis of major automotive brands performed by Consumer Reports, with the General Motors’ luxury brand ranked 21st out of 32 brands.
This Consumer Reports brand breakdown was based on a variety of metrics, including the publication’s own road test scores for a brand’s various vehicles, along with predicted reliability and predicted owner satisfaction, the latter two of which are determined using responses from past owner surveys. The publication then used this data to assign each brand an overall score, with a higher score reflecting a stronger performance in these categories. Editors also took into account a brand’s average safety score from institutions like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, along with how many eco-friendly “Green” vehicles it offers.
Model | Overall Score | Recommended | Green Choice |
---|---|---|---|
CT4 | 58 | - | - |
CT5 | 57 | - | - |
Escalade | 60 | - | - |
XT4 | 50 | - | - |
XT5 | 82 | Yes | - |
XT6 | 69 | - | - |
Cadillac ranked rather poorly in this study with an overall score of 63, which was driven by below-average predicted reliability and owner satisfaction scores. It had a good average road-test score of 79, however, suggesting that while Consumer Reports editors found Cadillac vehicles nice to drive, they showed room for improvement with regard to the ownership experience. Of the six Cadillac vehicles its editors have tested, they only recommend its readers buy one: the XT5 mid-size crossover.
Cadillac also has zero green vehicle offerings at the moment, which resulted in it being docked further points, however this is set to change this year with the introduction of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq battery-electric crossover. The Lyriq will enter production at the GM Spring Hill Assembly plant this spring.
As we reported previously, GMC was ranked second last in this study (31st overall) ahead of only Jeep, while Chevy was ranked 24th overall. Buick was the top-performing GM brand with a score of 72, placing it 11th overall. While Buick lacks green vehicle offerings, it impressed Consumer Reports judges with above-average reliability, average owner satisfaction and a decent road test score of 76.
The top-performing brand in this analysis was Subaru, which earned a score of 81 based on above-average predicted reliability, average owner satisfaction and a very high average road-test score of 89.

Anyone who believes these bozos at CR….yeah
Spring is only 30 days away.
Not sure about their “predictive reliability” analysis. However, my XT5, purchased new, 3 1/2 years ago, has only been into shop for tire rotations and oil changes. Hope I didn’t jinx this with 6 months to go on warranty.
Last week you all had a JD Power article rating Cadillac well…. JD Power/Consumer Reports ….all bozo’s
I have a XT5 2020 and I love it. Unsurpassed Power 310 HP drives beautifully,

Subaru above Cadillac? Are you kidding me? Goes to show just how little some consumers really know about cars.
Consumer Reports, bought and paid for by Toyota.
Crap! I have a limo company so I’m forced to deal with this piece of crap! And I have six of them which are parked about 30% of the time at the dealerships! Mind you all of them are 2021s. One of them was at the shop for 30 days and none of the technicians or Cadillac knew what the hell was going on. It’s a horrible horrible car, quality wise, from the engine, to the lifters breaking on every one of the vehicles, to the harness getting damaged on the diesel. They are just horrible horrible cars and even worse customer service. Because the only thing we are told is,” we understand your frustration.”
