For the sake of reference, we’re providing sales figures for the Lexus RX below. The vehicle is now offered in both two- and three-row variants, the latter of which competes in the general space as the aforementioned three-row models. Since Lexus does not break out sales of the two-row RX from the three-row RXL, not all RX sales can be applied to the premium three-row CUV segment. Instead, a more apt comparison would be to compare RX family sales to combined sales of the Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, and Buick Enclave.

The GM Authority Take
While Buick Enclave sales declined during the fourth quarter of 2021, the premium full-size crossover outperformed the overall sales trend of its group, placing second among seven entries and gaining a percentage point in segment share.
Any Enclave sales drops are directly the result of inventory constrains stemming from idled production at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. This of course is partially due to the ongoing global semiconductor microchip shortage which is expected to diminish in the second half of 2022. More specifically, the assembly facility was idle for several weeks in 2021 because GM was diverting chips to more lucrative vehicle lines, such as full-size trucks and SUVs. Luckily, Enclave production finally restarted the week of October 4th.
In spite of that, the Enclave managed to maintain a strong position in a very competitive segment. Buick’s flagship crossover received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year, consisting of a freshened exterior and improved interior. Originally, GM planned to launch the refreshed model for the 2021 model year, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the model for the 2022 model year.
The refreshed 2022 Buick Enclave features updated front and rear fascias for a more modern design. However, Consumer Reports dropped the 2022 Buick Enclave from its list of recommended vehicles due to reported reliability issues. This was less than two months after CR recognized the 2021 Buick Enclave as one of the best luxury SUVs to buy right now.
We expect Enclave sales to rebound once production stabilizes, but the going won’t be easy in light of ongoing supply constraints, questionable reliability, and competitive pressures.

Vince, thank you for reporting this! That’s a nice achievement for Buick, though I wish they would do a clean-sheet re-design of the Enclave.
GM must make a healthy profit from Buick with only Enclave being N America specific and produced. GMC is a good halo to attract buyers and combined they sell just slightly less vehicles than Kia at higher prices.
Aside from Escalade Cadillac feels hopeless but Buick GMC Dealers with Hummer sub branded SUVs seems like a really profitable venture and should be attractive to shareholders.
Any Buick in second place is a win in my eyes… Nice job GM and Buick! 👍👍
now, get a decent size screen in it…. 12 or 13 inches.
This Enclave would have sold very well in the middle east if GM brought it ..
I don’t know what GM thinking
regfootball… Only if the the new 12 or 13 inch screen stays horizontal, flat, and intergraded into the dash board like my wife’s 2019 Buick Enclave! Please GM don’t follow other car manufacturers with the screen jutting out of the top of the dash that just looks tacky.
