Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup truck owners with the 6.2L V8 engine under the hood can get some extra aural punch from the powerplant via AWE’s new 0FG exhaust system.
Designed for fourth-generation Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, the new AWE 0FG exhaust includes a dual cat-back design with 3-inch piping. The design includes a new H-pipe for a “deep, refined V8 muscle tone,” and also features the tuner’s patented 180 Technology drone-canceling solution.
The 0FG exhaust is made using CNC mandrel-bent tubing, with U.S.-sourced .065-inch thick T304L stainless steel.
The pipes terminate in a quartet of 4-inch, double-walled, slash-cut tips, which are available in either a chrome silver finish or diamond black finish. The tip outlets feature ball and socket joints for a clean installation in the bumper cutouts. The exhaust also includes an adapter for 156.95-inch wheelbases, and the system includes AWE’s Perfect Fitment Guarantee, as well as a “No CEL Guarantee” and a lifetime warranty.
Per AWE’s website, pricing for the new Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 0FG exhaust starts at $2,195 for systems with chrome silver tips, while a system with Diamond Black tips is $2,295.
To note, the L87 gasoline engine in the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra is rated from the factory at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm. No word from AWE on potential horsepower or torque gains with the new performance exhaust installed.
Check out the system in action below. Equipped on a Chevy Silverado, AWE demonstrates what the new 0FG exhaust sounds like on start and while revving, as well as under heavy acceleration. Finally, the demonstration video lets us hear the system from inside the cabin when cruising at 60 mph. Check it out:

As someone who lives and breathes the aforementioned v8 planet destroying engine… I’m a fan. But it’s loud AF. Most of us truck buyers don’t have a silverado as a second or third vehicle. So the 7am drive to work seems tiring.
Why in the world active exhaust hasn’t made it to the truck segment is baffling to me. Or other options in true dual besides as loud as possible.
There’s more to exhaust then volume. Just how there’s more to a car then 0-60 numbers for you EV liberals.
I have their Touring Edition on my C7 and it’s quite magical. I creep out for work in the morning with ease, it will banshee screen at full throttle, and all I hear is the tires on the highway. I imagine their system for the Truck will act the same since it’s got the same tech in it. I thought the same about loud vs tone — they taught me a thing or two when searching for my Vette system. No packing material used in their stuff either, so no tone change later in life.
Nice! GM should offer the performance exhaust, found on the Camaro, on the Silverado. It would be great to keep it quiet or open it up.
I have their system on my Camaro. It is the best sounding thing I’ve ever heard on a car, period, and I’ve tried ’em all!
I was hoping for a 70mph highway cruising sound to listen for any drone
Hi Johnny, we do capture in cabin noise at approximately 65-70 for reference and include them in our sound clip videos. The 6.2L version is in the article above, and the 5.3 can be found on our YouTube channel.
sounds good when you hit the firewall. but at low rpm cruising it sounds like a tractor…. not a good fit for me…it might be nice on a muscle car but on this truck… not a good fit, sound or result anywhere near this price range, no way
2k for an exhaust? No thanks!
Does anyone have experience with other brands of high performance exhaust? I’d appreciate recommendations. I don’t mind “loud under load” but absolutely want to be able to talk on the phone and with others if not under load.
I have a 2014 silverado LT with the 5.3, and have the GM Borla Touring exhaust system. I personally love it. Under hard acceleration it has a nice bark to it, while just cruising, you literally can’t hear it. I’m an old guy, and the sound from this system to me is right on the money. I’m sure a lot of younger guys would find it a bit tame for their likes but for me it’s perfect.
I just sold my truck to my son, and have a new refreshed LTZ with the 6.2 in it on order, and I’m going to add the Borla system with the quad tips as soon as it arrives.

Corsa is whisper quiet while cruising down highway or interstate. Can’t even hear it! But when you want to hear it, just mash on the gas pedal and the “heavens sing”!! In my opinion its the best exhaust out there.
Agreed. Corsa has the best sound of them all
Look at BORLA.
AWE’s is silent at cruising speed. You can whisper in the cabin. Better tone than anything on the market, Corsa and Borla or weak in comparison. Better material construction too.

We agree, and we designed the 0FG system to be the best of both worlds. That deep growl when you are on it, and a more minimal note when you are not. We were able to achieve this with our patented 180 Technology® resonators that work to cancel out drone frequencies.
My Corsa Cat-back sounds better! Plus I paid $1180 for it. $2k is overpriced!
Corsa is a joke lol.
Opinions vary! That’s why almost all Corvettes have Corsa Exhaust! Because it sounds amazing. You can pay almost double what I paid, and still not sound as good! Go ahead it’s your money you are throwing away!
They do indeed (opinions). Corvettes have Corsa exhausts because AWE came out later in life when you didn’t have many options but poopy Borla and trashpale Corsa. There’s a reason a lot of those Vettes now have AWE on them. In every video I’ve seen of the two compared, Corsa sounds actually like a Chinese exhaust. It’s so raspy and tin can that the shit is kind of embarrassing. It’s easy to make an exhaust loud, it’s difficult to make them sound deep and rich without droning. Corsa fails at this on every car.
Further, AWE is less expensive and better quality in every category. Not sure where you’re shop’n partner. Goodluck.
Corsa is for men who wear mom jeans and new balances. Not the cool kind of new balances. But, whatever you’re into.
Looks nicely made but the exhaust tone is not a pleasing one to me
That, is Exactly what needs to be Outlawed, along with any & all Factory “Cut-Outs”! The No exhaust guys, & Highly Modified guys, along with the Diesel turbo nuts, are all I hear anymore! At a gas station the other day, & thought I heard a Dragster fire up. WTF? Can you believe a Mercedes Coupe? Had twin pipes out the back, & an engine that had a dragster cam in it! The Pipes, seemed to be Straight, not cut-outs. Holy Earplugs! I guess he can afford the tickets! I Like a nice tone like the older Police had, but everything out there now, is Illegal ! Besides, it’s against Federal Law, & most States law, to Modify an exhaust! I’m sick of it! My 6.2 sound just fine with factory exhaust!
I have the GM/Borla on my current 6.2 Sierra and had Corsa on my last. They are very similar and sound fantastic. The Borla is far better at dealing with AFM/DFM if you don’t have that tuned out or bypassed – there is no noticeable drone in the cab with the Borla (which would be expected since it was developed w/GM). The Corsa on the other hand was terrible, sounded like a helicopter chasing you down inside the cab — once you get rid of AFM/DFM it is fantastic in the cab. My only complaint about either of them is the sound level of a cold start, real loud. Once it is warm they both seem about perfect.
Thanks Brent, this is the sort of feedback I was interested in reading. I called Borla and chatted with them. They said they make some of the performance exhaust sold through the dealers. The OEM branded systems that begin with a product code “Y” are equivalent to the Touring models sold directly by Borla. I am more interested in the S Type. Borla said that none of their systems (including ATAK) have any drone inside the cabin and are quiet unless the the engine is under load. Most of these are louder during a cold start.
Now if they would only get rid of the auto-stop…
If it’s to loud your to old…Get off my lawn you dam kids !!!! I think it sounds pretty cool..To each there own everyone enjoys different things..All good..
I want a growl when I get on it, but don’t want to hear it when cruising. I like the way the Borla Atak sounds on the outside, but I don’t know how loud it is in the cabin. It may not drone, but I don’t want the constant loud rumble in the cabin where I have to turn down the radio to carry on a conversation.
We agree, and we designed the 0FG system to do just that. That deep growl when you are on it, and a more minimal note when you are not. AWE’s 0FG system features patented180 Technology® resonators that work to cancel out drone frequencies that allows you to get the best of both worlds sound wise.
Carven competition exhaust on my 2016 Silverado with a 5-3 that that exhaust will wake the dead at 5:00 a.m..
Had no idea this was coming. Couldn’t have happened at a better time either. I’m getting myself one ASAP.
Can’t wait to see it installed! Make sure you tag us on social media or the forums so we can share.
Anything out there that is set up for the Silverado ZR2? No bumper cutouts; I was wondering if the exhaust would cause more corrosion since it comes out under the vehicle also.
Hi Bill, we are working to confirm fitment for the ZR2 and will update our website accordingly. As far as corrosion, our systems are constructed from U.S.-sourced .065”-wall T304L stainless steel, so it was designed to hold up better than most others and certainly the factory system!
