The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale subcompact crossover has made its official debut, arriving as a direct rival to the Cadillac XT4 and Buick Envision.
The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale will offer two powertrains from launch. The more popular of the two will likely be the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder, which is rated at 256 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and pairs with a standard all-wheel-drive system and nine-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a plug-in hybrid setup, which comprises a 1.3L turbocharged four-cylinder, a rear axle-mounted 90 kW electric motor, 15.5 kWh battery pack and six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain doles out roughly 272 peak horsepower and boasts an all-electric driving range of roughly 30 miles.
Inside, the Tonale features a standard 10.25-inch center touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver information display. This system offers standard Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto and can also receive over-the-air updates via the Alfa Connect platform. A wide variety of active safety tech is standard, too, including adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, driver attention assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning with lane-keep assist.
The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale will be available in three trim levels: Sprint, Ti and Veloce. The Sprint is the base model, while the Ti bridges the gap to the sportier and more luxurious Veloce, which serves as the range-topping trim. Production will take place at Alfa’s Giambattista Vico Stellantis plant in Naples, Italy, with sales set to begin in Q1 of 2023. U.S. pricing has not yet been announced, although we imagine it will start at $35,000 to $40,000, which would put it roughly on par with other subcompact luxury crossovers like the Envision, XT4 and Audi Q3.

Why does it look depressed lol
is this new ? seems an old car of the 2010 ies
it is terrible the license plate position of alfa romeo,,, an assymetry in a symmetric car .. make us going far of them and look other more interesting directions searching something amusement
Is it based on the Renegade/500L?
… full melancolic face …. seems sad … wanted to be a car ,,, but could not be ,,, so sad
I think it looks pretty good. The front looks like the Star Wars Mandelorean helmet.
The bad thing is the name” Toenail” Yuck!
Who will be the first to enter an Alfa dealer and ask to see a “Toenail”?
Tonale is the name of a pass in the Alps, as is Stelvio.
There is talk about another new model called Brennero (english Brenner Pass), south of Innsbruck and with the elevation of 1,370 m (4,495 ft) the lowest of the main passes.
I like your toe nail
Oh, I know; I looked it up. But, how many will, and how many will still mangle it?
the Brenner Pass having we been several times… once by Bus to take from Munich to Venice to take a cruise ship … MSC Rhapsody or Festival The Azur if remember
There is a 55 km (34 mi) long railway base tunnel under construction, called the „Brenner Basistunnel“ BBT. Base tunnel because it begins at the base of the mountain range, a little higher than the Inn valley at Innsbruck. Together with the already existing Innsbruck bypass tunnel, it will have a total length of 64 km or 40 miles. From the tunnel mounds in Italy and Austria, it mounts with an ascent of 4 to 7 ‰ to the vertex (highest point) at 790 meters (2,297 feet), 580 meters (1.903 ft) lower than the pass itself.
Originally, the opening of the tunnel was expected for 2028, this has shifted to 2030 or even 2032.
well … since we moved from Munich to 1000 km north … since 2008 … never got down the roads … neither went a 8th or 9th time to Murano or Burano to buy the beauty glasses… since long we made only small trips in northern Europe … do not like much tunnels, prefer birdges but anyway … thanks me informing regards MK
You are dumber than a door knob. Shaving cream is in isle 2.
It’s aisle, not isle.
Looks very Mazda-ish, inside and out.
Is this the vehicle that the rumored Dodge Hornet SUV will be derived from?
Indeed
Hybrid system in the hybrid version is sourced from the Jeep renegade. No thanks.
Sorry Alpha Romeo… But this thing looks like it could be in a Thomas the tank engine show it has eyes, a big nose, and big gaping mouth… If this thing Alpha calls a CUV could talk it would say “please redesign me into something good looking” like the Buick Envision. I will take the Buick over this vehicle.
Yeah Paul until F. I. A. T. AKA FIX IT AGAIN TONY comes knocking… And while Alfa’s are great looking they are BMW prices to fix not like Chevy’s or Even Buick’s which won’t put a hole in your pocket for normal maintenance. Just wait until this Alfa breaks down lol 😆 👌🤌
Chevy Man Your thinking is old school. Alfas have gotten much more reliable. My friends have 2. Both fun to drive and no issues at all. They drive them everywhere. Besides, if I can afford the car and it makes me giddy everytime I get in it, I can afford the cost of ownwership. I am at heart a Chevy man too. and a lifetime member of the BowTie Brigade. I love my Chevy Hot Rods.
Kinda strange too to see an Alfa Romeo in a GM forum too.
So damn beautiful. And, that interior is world class.
It might be old school thinking Paul but it’s my opinion.. I would rather buy GM or Ford where the money I spend stays in America… Not some country in Europe! I also don’t like the fact that Buick’s and some Chevy’s are made in China and Mexico. I bought a Mazda 6 once but got rid of it yes it handle great and was a spirited car but the interior was so uncomfortable not made for Americans that I went back to Chevy and bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ V6 which I still own and could not be happier with this vehicle it was made in Canada which is ok because that’s where my 2002 Camaro Z28 was made and it also was a great car that could leave this Alfa looking at it’s taillights! I wish I still owned my Camaro I miss that car.
Chevy Man That all sounds great. Those are great Chevies. I do my best to buy American too. I also want the new C8 ZO6 and a ZR1 1LE Camaro too. The new EV thingies….nope!!
