General Motors reintroduced the Chevy Blazer nameplate as an all-new midsize crossover for the 2019 model year. Though the new crossover had a very strong launch, Blazer sales have slipped as of late, primarily as a result of production issues stemming from the ongoing global microchip shortage. The Blazer remains a very solid choice, but rivals aren’t standing still. Now, General Motors is poised to introduce a model refresh with the introduction of the upcoming 2023 Chevy Blazer.
Model Line
The 2023 Chevy Blazer model lineup will consist of LT, RS, and Premier trim levels. However, the Blazer L and Blazer 1LT will no longer be offered, as both trims were dropped after the 2021 model year.
One possible addition to the lineup is a new Blazer Activ trim level. In fact, an outdoor-lifestyle-oriented variant with some light off-roading flavor similar to models like the Trailblazer Activ seems like the next logical step for the nameplate for Chevy in the SUV-obsessed world. It’s so logical, that GM Authority even drew up a rendering back in 2020.
Exterior
Outside, the refreshed 2023 Chevy Blazer will introduce revisions to the front fascia, bringing it more inline with models like the Chevy Bolt EUV and Chevy Silverado EV.
Incidentally, the 2019 Chevy Blazer introduced the original design language that inspired the styling of the Chevy Bolt EUV and Chevy Silverado EV, not to mention the new Trailblazer and 2022 Chevy Traverse, but the 2023 Blazer will evolve the look further, as previewed by prototype models that GM Authority has covered in the past.

Around back, expect the 2023 Chevy Blazer to boast a new taillight treatment and a new exhaust treatment as well. These changes could also be trim-level specific.
Interior
The refresh will continue into the cabin, where the 2023 Chevy Blazer will feature a larger infotainment screen, likely plucked from the three-row Blazer sold in the Chinese market.
Improved materials throughout the cabin would also be welcome, given the current model’s heavy use of less-than-attractive plastics.
Mechanical
The greasy bits will go unchanged with the 2023-model-year refresh, once again featuring the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine. The turbo four makes 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the atmospheric six is rated at 308 horses and 270 pound-feet.
Both engines will connect to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
Production
Production of the 2023 Chevy Blazer will continue to take place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. The Chinese-market model, which is longer and features three rows of seating, is assembled locally in China.
Pricing
Pricing for the refreshed 2023 Chevy Blazer is expected to be similar to that of the 2022 model year, starting just shy of $30,000. As a reminder, the Blazer L and LT trims will no longer be offered.
Reveal
The 2023 Chevy Blazer will debut February 8th, as GM Authority was the first to report. Look for production to begin around July of 2022, although it should be noted that the launch date may change given the current volatile manufacturing and supply conditions.
Competitive Landscape
After a very strong launch during which the Blazer rose to second place in its segment, Chevy’s midsize crossover utility currently slots mid-pack in its segment from a sales standpoint. Sales would be higher if production were not impacted by the ongoing microchip shortage. That said, competitors aren’t immune to the shortage issues, either.
