2022 GMC Acadia Loses These Three Paint Colors

The 2022 GMC Acadia is the sixth model year for the second-generation crossover nameplate, introducing a variety of changes and updates for the vehicle. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 GMC Acadia is no longer available with three specific exterior paint colors.

The three paint colors no longer available for the 2022 GMC Acadia include (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):

  • Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
  • Midnight Blue Metallic (GLU)
  • Cayenne Red Tintcoat (GSK)

Satin Steel Metallic (G9K) and Midnight Blue Metallic (GLU) previously cost an extra $495 to option, while Cayenne Red Tintcoat (GSK) cost an extra $645. All three exterior paint options were offered on all 2022 GMC Acadia trim levels, as well as in conjunction with three interior colors. The three interior colors offered include:

  • Jet Black
  • Cocoa/ Light Ash Gray
  • Dark Galvanized / Light Shale

The introduction of the 2022 GMC Acadia ushered in a number of changes, including the deletion of the SL trim level, deletion of the Red Mahogany Metallic exterior color option, and the addition of the Light Stone Metallic exterior color option.

As a reminder, the 2022 GMC Acadia is available with two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY, rated at 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX rated at 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 271 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. The naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine, rated at 193 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 188 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, was deleted for the 2022 model year.

The GM 9-speed automatic transmission is on hand for the cog swaps, feeding either front-wheel drive as standard, or all-wheel drive as an available option.  Under the body panels, the 2022 GMC Acadia rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Spring Hill Plant in Tennessee.

  1. yesterday saw a marvellous car … the Great Wall Wey Tank 300 … in beautiful colours green & violet and for interior all white … if would buy a SUV, would go with this Wey instead GM, it has design precise, it is not like GM

  2. Typical GM doublespeak. Acadia does not lose these colors during a rough road trip. But because GM is discontinuing them. The true title would be “GM discontinues three Acadia colors.” But then the GM language illusionists would be out of business.

  3. Lose 3 colors gain 3 colors with a slightly different tint…So what? Just a game to attract attention and make it different for the sake of differences. I still think it’s a shame a buyer has to pay extra just to get a vehicle painted. No wonder white is the most popular vehicle color. It can be had at no extra cost. Buy a white color vehicle, park it on the street overnight, and it will get painted (tagged) for free with a unique paint scheme. With any luck it will still have tires and wheels left on it in the morning….

    1. Nice color I tried to talk the wife into that when we got her a 21. We ended up with Denali in the Red.

      1. Did you get that denali for the price of an SLE like you did your truck?

        Reply
        1. We got the Denali that stickered at $55k for $47k and then got our GM card money off that.

          That was last July.

Today the same dealer is taking the same model marking it up $3k and only taking off $1,000 GM money. A total rip off.

As for my truck it was the same price as a SLT not E big difference in price or options with one letter.

            1. Not difficult if you are willing to take your time. It is like fishing. You watch for deals and you go in knowing what the going prices are. True Car will give you the prices paid in your area.

To be honest I did not expect you buy that night. I went in with a GM Friends and family deal. The dealer lied and said GM was not accepting this. I got up to walk.

They came back with a deal that was almost the same price. I think they made more money at that price with no GM offer.

Then they tried to screw me on the trade. But they had signed me up for Car Facts on my old Acadia. I pulled trade in values from them and it was $3000 to $3500 more. I got up to walk.

They came back and said if we give you three k more will you buy. I said yes.

They met my prices and then I dropped the GM card money on them. That I think was another $1500 at that time. That one did not cost them money but I suspect they would not have given me as good of a price if they knew I was sitting on that.

Sadly it too 4 hours to make a deal.

Looking back it was good we made the deal as short inventories and higher prices have made this a tough time to get any deals.

I expect with mfgs keeping inventories down large discounts and better offers may be difficult to get moving forward.

    2. You may still get it if they build out the color. Might ask the dealer to check their order desk order.

  8. There are a lot issues in the world today, but adding paint colours and dropping paint colours appears to be the most important item on the desks of General Motors. Is it because they keep finding cheaper suppliers, or is it their intention to distract from the more important issues they should be concerned about, like improving the product, fixing the chip shortage, improving the warranties. I think there must be a lot of people at GM that have nothing to do but in trying to justify their existence they have to come up with something, so they can send a memo to their Department Head. Here’s a new concept, Maybe GM should spend more time listening to the consumer instead of worrying about the different shades of red, blue, and grey. Of course to do that, Common Sense would have to be applied, but there is no GM code for that,

  9. Does that mean the red Acadia Denali “ordered” at the dealership but not yet accepted by GM is bye bye?
Asked two dealerships, no response yet.

    1. GM just keeps losing the colors. They must have fell off the truck somewhere on the road to GM..

  10. Limited colors generally are to spur sales to those holding off and want a specific color.

Much like special paint editions on the Camaro.

Also at times it has to do with coming change overs. Let’s face it the 23 models will be announced in 2 months.

  11. I believe that more exterior colors were dropped. GMC build a vehicle website says there are now 2 versions of white, ebony twilight, light stone and hunter . Total of 5 left. Pretty soon it will be back to the Model T days of just black.
