2022 Corvette Carbon Fiber Grille Insert Now Available

The 2022 Corvette is the third model year of the latest eighth-generation sports car, introducing a few changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year, as well as the new limited-run 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. Now, GM Authority has learned that the carbon fiber grille insert is now available to order on the 2022 Corvette Stingray.

The new composite dress-up piece for the 2022 Corvette Stingray is called Visible Carbon Fiber Grille Insert, and is tagged with RPO code RZ9. The Carbon Fiber Grille Insert is offered as an LPO-level option, which means it’s installed at the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced.

The upgrade consists of two carbon fiber “blades” which are mounted in the lower air intakes found in the corners of the 2022 Corvette front bumper. The blades include a vertical component and a horizontal component, and an extra bit of “sharpness” to the 2022 Corvette Stingray’s styling.

The Visible Carbon Fiber Grille Insert was offered on previous model years of the C8 Corvette, but unavailable for the production start of the 2022 Corvette Stingray. Customers will be able to order the feature starting on February 7th, which will be exclusively available for the 3LT trim level. Pricing for the new piece is set at $2,125.

Further updates for the 2022 model year include the addition of three new exterior colors (Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, and Amplify Orange Tintcoat), and deletion of the 5-spoke Performance Pewter-painted aluminum wheels (RPO code 5DG) option.

As a reminder, the C8 Corvette rides on the Y2 platform, with the C8 Corvette Stingray powered by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, or 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the optional Performance Exhaust system. Sending output to the rear axle is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green facility in Kentucky.

  1. My initial build sheet had a lot of cosmetic trim and was $93,000, after that order got canceled I thought it over, ordered a Z51, mag ride, front lift and spent $76,000.
Very happy, and I can always add trim pieces when I want. And if I find $2,000 that are not needed I can get two trim pieces for the front as described above.
Personally, it seems too many cosmetic pieces have really high prices. I feel we C8 owners might be getting taken advantage of. It is still Chevy Corvette. I like to buy parts that add horsepower.

  2. Really amazing how expensive the carbon fiber accoutrements are. I went for the 3LT trim for my C8 Z51 without hesitation – but adding carbon fiber just seemed without value for me – at least at that cost

  3. Wheels cracking, and Mary Barra wants you to buy some expensive carbon fiber items….
