2022 Chevy Traverse Gets New Northsky Blue Metallic Color: First Look

The 2022 Chevy Traverse offers three new exterior colors: Silver Sage Metallic, Cherry Red Tintcoat, and Northsky Blue Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new blue hue.

Assigned RPO code G6N and touch-up paint code WA-619G, Northsky Blue Metallic is one of eight exterior colors available on the 2022 Chevy Traverse:

  • Black Cherry Metallic
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
  • Mosaic Black Metallic
  • Northsky Blue Metallic
  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Silver Sage Metallic
  • Summit White

There is no extra charge for Northsky Blue Metallic, meaning that the color is included in the base price of the vehicle. The new color is available on LS, LT Cloth, and LT Leather, but not available on RS, Premier, and High Country trim levels. It can be combined with Jet Black and Jet Black with Chai interior colorways.

Here are all available 2022 Chevy Traverse interior colors:

  • Jet Black
  • Jet Black with Chai
  • Jet Black with Clove
  • Jet Black with Maple Sugar
  • Jet Black with Spice Red

As a reminder, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse receives a refresh (otherwise known as an update, mid-cycle enhancement, or MCE) consisting of updated exterior styling and a handful of updates to the interior.

On the outside, the refreshed Traverse gets a new front fascia with set of new, then LED daytime running lights (DRLs), followed by an equally-new set of LED headlights located below the new DRLs, new taillights, and new alloy wheel options, along with the three new colors we mentioned above.

Inside, the updated Traverse gets a few mild updates, including the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other changes include the addition of an Automatic Start/Stop disable switch and Safety Alert Seat, along with a new standard Chevy Safety Assist package that brings more standard active safety tech to the vehicle.

As was the case starting with the 2018 model year, the 2022 Traverse is powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive as standard or all-wheel drive as an option.

GM originally intended to launch the updated Chevy Traverse for the 2021 model year, but its arrival was delayed by factors associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Traverse rides on the long wheelbase-variant of the GM C1 platform and is built at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. Production of the 2022 Chevy Traverse resumed on October 25th after being delayed due to the ongoing global semiconductor microchip shortage that is expected to remain well into 2022.

  1. Why does GM insist that the interior of most of its’ cars are BLACK? For many, Black is a non starter, especially in the South.

    1. Is no brainier, otherwise the interior is going to get dirty(stained) very fast. I live in south Florida, and even with the hot I don’t buy anything other than black interior.

  2. Not sure I can get use to that color in the Traverse or maybe it’s the trim level or the wheels. IMO, poor presentation.

  4. Author should have told us what other 2022 GM vehicles offer the Northsky Blue Metallic color. Might look nice on the Blazer, for example. (Not that I would buy one since it is FWD/AWD instead of RWD, though.)

  5. Would really like to know how come the Northsky blue metallic will not be available in the premier?
