The Chevy Tahoe Z71 trim level upgrades the SUV nameplate with a list of equipment specifically designed for enhanced prowess on the trails. Now, this particular 2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71 is upping the ante with a new lift kit and several other upgrades, as seen in the following video.
The video, posted by New Jersey-based dealer NJ Truck King, is just a minute long, and shows the customized 2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71 both inside and out.
The most striking thing about this 2022 Chevy Tahoe is its stance. While the standard Tahoe Z71 is offered with optional Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, this particular example is standing tall thanks to a 3.5-inch lift kit, giving it a commanding presence on the road. The lift kit is complemented by new running gear, which includes 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires, wrapped around 20-inch Fuel wheels finished in black.
The body panels are coated in Cherry Red Tintcoat paint, a premium option for the 2022 Chevy Tahoe priced at $495. Dark window tint completes the look.
Under the hood, this Tahoe Z71 is running the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, rated from the factory at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm. The V8 sends power to all four corners by way of the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
To note, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe Z71 is also available with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm. Elsewhere in the lineup, the 2022 Tahoe is offered with the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm.
This particular example sports a mere 99 miles on the clock, which means it’s basically brand-new. Pricing with all the options and aftermarket upgrades comes to $87,900.
To note, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe rides on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

Unfortunately, aggressive traditional off-road styling clashes extremely hard with the ‘Flight of the Navigator’ styling of the new Tahoe’s.
It’s like the worst of Mad Max and 80’s sci-fi combined.
I think it looks good, but an aggressive All-Terrain like the Nitto Ridge Grappler would’ve fit it’s style better than the Nitto Trail Grappler mud tires.
Looks fantastic. Will do this to my ‘Burb when I finally get it.
Looks great!
Not sure why Chevy decided to start making the tahoes look so ugly. They need to go back to the style of the 2004s. That was the last time the Tahoe looked good. Now they look like ugly trash that rappers would drive around.
Running 35’s with only the 5.3 and no mention in the article of final ring & pinion gearing changes front and rear to at least 3.73 or better yet…. 4.11’s, this thing is a pooch. Any one experienced with stepping up their tire diameter over OEM as much as this conversion did and this thing probably coming equipped with 3.23 gearing is going to experience SLOW acceleration and then there’s the brakes. Just sayin’ !
Did you not read the the options of other engines that must be your mistake and a 10-speed transmission with those gearings I think is pretty excellent you’re thinking about old school three gear transmission you know and I agree with you on that
Anytime you lift “ANY” vehicle, expect a minimum decreased performance and braking distances so you have to compensate for the loss.
I agree, those Nitto Trails look good but to aggressive IMO too. The road noise would kill me after 10k miles.
This is my favorite color package and this looks awesome. I would order the 6.2 or the 3.0L in this package and leave the 5.3 for the grocery getters and shopper moms. Lol
I’m still curious about the new rear independent suspension and clearances should someone want to actually take it off road. Anyone seen/had experience?
The 5.3 aint no slouch, granted the 6.2 aint no sports car either. The 5.3 easily takes older 5.3’s off the line just saying. A ford ecoboost will easily take the slow 6.2 any day…
Instead of the lift send it to a reputable shop, throw a supercharger on it with 650-700 HP and put on some Brembos. Ecoboost WHO?????
Would have been nice if the author gave us the brand of lift, and the wheel and tire specs.
Who sell a kits for 2022 chevy tahoe z71 .lift kits 3in 5
