The 2022 Chevy Equinox debuts a mid-cycle enhancement, otherwise known as an update or refresh, for the midsize crossover, introducing a variety of changes to the exterior, interior, and powertrain. Now, GM Authority has learned that the Seaglass Blue Metallic exterior paint option is no longer available to order on the 2022 Chevy Equinox.
The Seaglass Blue Metallic paint option for the 2022 Chevy Equinox is tagged with RPO code GHZ, and was introduced as a new exterior color for the 2022 model year. Seaglass Blue Metallic was previously offered on LT, RS, and Premier trim levels, but not the LS trim level.
Seaglass Blue Metallic was also offered at no extra charge. It’s currently unclear if the paint color will become available again for the 2022 model year, or if perhaps it will return for the 2023 model year.
As a reminder, the Chevy Equinox was originally slated to receive a model refresh for the 2021 model year, but due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was delayed to the 2022 model year.
Outside, the 2022 Chevy Equinox features a revised exterior with a new front end, taillights, and rear bumper, while the interior changes includes new color finishes and seat material combinations, as well as a new engine auto stop-start defeat switch.
Under the hood, the 2022 Chevy Equinox is offered exclusively with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, connecting to the GM six-speed automatic transmission. As GM Authority covered previously, the up-level turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gas engine does not return for the 2022 model year.
Under the body panels, the 2022 Chevy Equinox rides on the GM D2 platform. Production for the North American market takes place at the GM CAMI plant in Canada and the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

PITY PITY PITY The most beautiful colour is gone, no alternatives
For me or For us is GREEN, not Blue
Exactly how many did they build in this color? Did they have this color for 12 months?
No the color Seaglass blue was only available 4 months and no one is saying why it’s discontinued
So let me guess. They will replace it with yet another boring grey or silver variant.
or a variant of black in black
Nice color, but I too have never seen that color of a Traverse on a lot nor the road.
GM, when it has a solid design, can keep a model going longer than the average automaker with the previous Nox being a good example.
This generation of Equinox (& GMC Terrain) are being outsold by every rival in a space that spans Jerp Compass, Kia Sportage, Kia Stelios, Ford Escape, Bronco Sport, and Edge.
These are all different segments that nonetheless compete on cargo space, price, options, design and wow factor. GM focuses on larger, more expensive models, is going EV, but must compete in this less than lucrative space as it builds brand loyalty. They can’t even get the colors right!
Never seen it on an Equinox. Probably cost $50,000.00 as optional paint, i.e. no one ordered it therefore Chevy thinks people love the boring blacks, whites, grays.
We ordered ours in the seaglass blue. Didn’t cost us extra, and in our little town of 3000, there is 4 others.
Gm has a real hard time with color. As a vehicle ages they need to offer nicer colors and more of them. Unfortunately, they cut colors and replace good colors with crap colors. Colorado for example is down to about 4 colors. They have serious competition and they answer the challenge with terrible colors.
All automotive manufacturers have poor color options. We are now building to order and we are lucky to get 5 color choices.
I say open up the color options to just about any a consumer is willing to pay for. It should be up to us, as it’s our money we are spending here.
I have no problem paying an extra $500 to pick a color I want. Then have a mix of black and that exterior color choice to tie it all together. Accents as it would look good to me. If only these manufacturers got a clue on moe options is a good thing….
I have 2022 equinox premier with the sea glass blue metallic and it’s beautiful order it in Sept 2021 and got it January 2022.
I also just purchased the only Equinox Premier Sea Glass color in my hometown 2 weeks ago. It is a beautiful color indeed! Looks different colors at times, depending on how close up you are. When I tell people I purchased a blue Equinox they look at me like I’m crazy (I don’t care for certain Blue’s either) but this light blue/silver color is awesome. We were near the waters up in Chicago last weekend and looking out at the water with the sun shining down…I can see where they came up with the name Sea Glass. Why would they discontinue it??
Hi we ordered our Equinox in this color back in February and are still waiting. I am excited to hear that it is worth the wait. We haven’t even seen one in person in this color yet. Hope to get it this summer. Thanks for sharing. Heidi from Rochester MN. 😊 I love that we were able to have the option to choose a fun color other than silver, white, or black. We are really excited to get our new car soon. Chevy picked such a great color sorry to see it go so fast.

WTF you A holes.
Thank that cheating ignorant low life sob in the white house
What a shame they will no longer have this color available. It is the main reason I was buying a new Equinox this year. Now I will be looking around for another vehicle. Sorry GM, someone really screwed up.
