The 2022 Chevy Colorado is the eighth model year of the second-generation nameplate, ushering in just a few small changes and updates over the lightly updated 2021 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 Chevy Colorado is no longer available with the optional bedliner with storage components.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado feature is officially called Bedliner with Integral Storage Compartments, and is tagged with RPO code 5VQ. The feature was previously available as an LPO-level option, which means it was installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle was initially produced.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado’s Bedliner with Integral Storage Compartments was offered on all trim levels, with the exception of the Chevy Colorado ZR2.
Alternatively, 2022 Chevy Colorado customers can still get the Spray-on Bedliner, tagged with RPO code CGN, the Rubber bed mat, tagged with RPO code VBR, or the Tailgate Liner, tagged with RPO code VUK. The Spray-on Bedliner is $475, the Rubber bed mat is $150, and the Tailgate Liner is $80.
As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Colorado is available with two engine options, including the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, which is rated at 308 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 275 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, and the 2.8L I4 LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine, which is rated at 181 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and 369 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine, which produces 200 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 191 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, is no longer offered, as GM Authority covered previously.
As for transmission options, the 2.8L I4 LWN connects to the GM six-speed automatic transmission, while the 3.6L V6 LGZ connects to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2022 Canyon rides on the GMT 31XX platform, with production taking place at the GM Wentzville factory in Missouri.

My last 2018 Chevy pickup had major engine problems at 36k miles. Chevy needs to do more than play with color changes and plastic inserts. Will never give Chevy another chance. All they sell is fake image, and outdated engines and transmissions prone to failure. Buyer beware.
I wouldn’t say “outdated engines and transmissions prone to failure”, because honestly they are modern engines and transmissions prone to failure.
I just bought a new truck ‘bought chevs and G Ms sence 1975 last 5 yrars flipe them out bfore r warntey was up traded my 2019 for 2022 toyota nice tuck if i like it will get new one in year or so gms have problems with morters bowing up and 50% made over seas toyota made in texas
Got a 17 with no issues.
The 23 is coming with major changes.
No issues in mine either.
With a massive 20% total failure rate, you’d still have 80% of people saying they didn’t have a problem.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem.
Decontent and strip away is the name of the game with these GM leaders. The days of a big & long options book on 60’s and 70’s GM trucks and cars is out the window. Now, if you want one option, you have to opt-in for a multiple thousand dollar option package filled with options you really don’t want. Limited exterior and interior color list.
Just be done with it and have the entire GM lineup in Refrigerator White and gray vinyl interior, steel wheels…..
The bed side storage bins on a Ram pickup seem really slick. I’d like to see that be adopted by the other pickup manufacturers. As far as quality, yes, Chevy really needs to pick up their game in that regards, but until buyers stay away because of it, they won’t address it.
Gm managers must exist in an Latinate universe. Their thinking is to give you less for more is the road to success.

My 02 Silverado has had a Bed liner since new and looks pretty good under it. Does rub in places so yeah it effects paint a little but no rust at all. Again in upstate NY at 1500 ft elevation where they salt the hell out of the roads.
