If you want a new V8-powered Chevy Camaro sports car, there are a few options at your disposal, two of which include the 2022 Chevy Camaro LT1 and 2022 Chevy Camaro 1SS. Both of these trims are equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine, rated at 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Notably, these two vehicles are very close to one another in price, so what’s the difference? Now, GM Authority is diving into the key differentiators between the 2022 Chevy Camaro LT1 and 2022 Chevy Camaro 1SS.
First off, we should mention the pricing. The 2022 Chevy Camaro LT1 starts at $35,195, whereas the 2022 Chevy Camaro 1SS starts at $38,695, making for a difference of just $3,500. Note that those prices do not include tax, title, license, dealer fees, or optional equipment.
In terms of positioning, the 2022 Chevy Camaro LT1 is offered as the “street” focused V8-powered Camaro, while the Camaro 1SS is considered the affordable “track” focused option. To that end, there are several key points of departure in terms of equipment.
Let’s start with the infotainment. The 2022 Chevy Camaro LT1 is available with the Bose premium sound system, which is not offered on 1SS trims. This same feature is equipped as standard on the 2SS, which is priced at $43,695.
Next up is the handling, with Magnetic Ride Control suspension offered as optional on the 1SS, but unavailable for the Chevy Camaro LT1. The 1SS also gets four-piston brake calipers front and rear, while the LT1 only has four-piston calipers up front. What’s more, the 1SS can be upgraded to six-piston calipers up front, whereas the Chevy Camaro LT1 cannot. As for the traction, the LT1 runs square tire sizing, while the 1SS runs staggered summer-only tires.
Further track-oriented upgrades include a variety of extra cooling systems for the Chevy Camaro 1SS, which the LT1 does not have, such as a high-capacity system, an auxiliary engine coolant cooler, a rear differential cooler, and a transmission cooler, all of which are standard on the Camaro 1SS, and not offered on the LT1.
Finally, the 2022 Chevy Camaro 1SS is available with the SS 1LE Track Performance Package, which is priced at $7,000 and includes the following content (relevant RPO code listed in parentheses):
- Electronic limited-slip differential (G96)
- Dual-mode performance exhaust (NPP)
- Magnetic Ride Control (F55)
- Performance suspension (FE4)
- Black front splitter (FTJ)
- Satin Black hood wrap (DSM)
- Satin Black rear blade spoiler (D5S)
- 285/30R20 front and 305/30R20 rear, blackwall, summer-only tires (R0G)
- 20-inch Satin Graphite forged aluminum wheels (RSK)
- Recaro performance front bucket seats (AQJ)
- Sueded-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel (N26)
- Sueded-wrapped shift knob (KS9)
- Brembo Red, six-piston front monobloc calipers, four-piston rear calipers, two-piece rotors, performance, four-wheel antilock, four-wheel disc brakes (non-CA/WA orders) (J6M)

What is the update on Cadillac lyriq.
…nice to see the difference between the SS and the LT1….it would be nice to see the difference on the 1/4 mile track and on a circle track…I think they are well priced
It is well priced Camrys and Mazda 3 turbo near the same price, camaro is special and obtainable.
A no brainer since the major amount of miles compiled on either the LT1 or the SS models will be on the street. Have 11k on my 2021 LT1 and love every mile
It still remains one of those few cars out on the street (Challengers, Corvettes and Mustangs being the other) that always catches your eye and makes you pause for a second. This world would be a very boring place without a new Camaro in it. Long may it run.
Have 2013 dodge dart 40,000 miles on it plus 20,000 cash still cannot find 2022 camaro dam shame
I’m telling you guys, I used a car broker. 495$ paid at delivery. No dealership bs etc. Never ever again buy/lease a car without him/one.
I couldn’t source one, he got back to me with 3 variants of the build I wanted. 78 days later my car showed up…
If there were any on dealers’ lots, I’d buy one (LT1 – zero options & a stick).
Don Hall Chevy Ashland

Cheap price for 455bhp and 455 ft lbs LT1
A few aftermarket parts like headers and air filter and tune, over 500bhp.
Or lease is under 280.00 month….
A good deal for LT1
Love both but LT1 is a great bargain. Would love to upgrade from my 1LT V6 someday.
One of the key differences to me that may be obvious but not mentioned is the LT front fascia. In my opinion the LT looks much better. The taller top grille is sharp looking and cleaner.
That’s odd. The 6 piston GMPP brembo performance kit lists LT1. I acquire the LZ1 lease last year found retail allocation exactly. I opted to 3.0 infotainment and RS. 279$ 1000$ factory cash, no deposit, and I have employee pricing; cheaper than a Prius. I had a 1ss 16’ A8. The A10 elevates the platform to whole other level. My SS didn’t have MRC, the FE3 suspension like my LT1. Such an amazing car and for what I’m paying given current market .
I don’t know anything about the new Camaro SS but I’m thrilled to death with my 2019 Camaro SS (v8 supercharged eng.)that I bought exactly one year ago today with 3400 miles on it. Today it has 64,212 miles on it! Best car I have ever driven, haven’t been beat yet! Bad ass fast!!
Amazing cars never quit building them I had a 69 z28 wish I still had but still have my 63 as coup chevies forever
Another point, which is why I got mine, is GM keeps incentivizing the lease on the LT1. A 1SS won’t residualize as well for a lease.
I’ve had my 2022 Camaro LT1 on order since September! It still hasn’t started on the production line yet. When I ordered, I wanted a 2022 car in 2021. At this rate, I should cancel my order and order the 2023 one in July. What’s another 4 months at this point??? So frustrated with Chevy!
Not sure what’s going on with my LT1 but this car is stupid fast I have yet to lose to any car on street or track I have killed red eyes hellcats new corvettes Camaro ss all day long pro charged Camaro ss 2 them heavily modes Camaro ss by car and half and whom knows how many scrat craps!!! I did lose only on take off to a Audi A6 pushing 760hp freshly tuned for shots n giggles and at a 20 roll by a bumper as far as I know my car is bone stock and rocking these streets waiting on a zL1 to give a time a day to see what I can do against em I have to say this car has impressed me by far fastest Camaro I have ever owned 455hp I call bull $hit on that lol unless previous owner modes this baby I can honestly say well worth the 42k I’m paying
I have a 22 SS Camaro 1LE and I love it it’s the rapid blue fully loaded but I changed my wheels to 295 25 22 in the back and 245 30 22s in the front and I also changed my my mufflers to the most aggressive ones they had I have had mine since December of last year thinking about putting the supercharger on it and changing to headers and putting a cold air intake I’m putting the cam and tuning it then I will be all set
