2022 Cadillac CT5 Loses Garnet Metallic Paint

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 arrives as the third model year for luxury sedan nameplate, introducing just a few changes and updates compared to the preceding 2021 model year, as well as the new CT5-V Blackwing. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 Cadillac CT5 is no longer available with one specific exterior paint option.

The paint option in question is Garnet Metallic, which is tagged with paint code GRL. According to GM Authority sources, Garnet Metallic has been “built out” for the remainder of the 2022 model year. At this point, it’s unclear it the paint option will return for the 2023 model year.

Previously, Garnet Metallic paint was available as an optional extra on Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels, offered for an extra $625. Garnet Metallic was not offered on 2022 Cadillac CT5 Sport or CT5-V trim level, nor was it offered on the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.

Although the standard 2022 Cadillac CT5 differs slightly from the equivalent 2021 model year, the latest model year also introduces the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, a high-performance version of the sedan that packs in a wealth of go-faster goodies, including the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.

Elsewhere in the CT5 lineup, engine options include the naturally aspirated 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY gasoline engine, rated at 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque in Premium Luxury trim levels, and 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque in V-Series models. A 10-speed automatic transmission is offered across the lineup, while the CT5-V Blackwing also offers a six-speed manual transmission as standard.

Under the skin, 2022 Cadillac CT5 ride on the GM Alpha platform. Production for the North American market takes place at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan.

  1. Really would like to buy one of these with the LGY motor in that shadow metallic color which i think was discontinued and is a shame. But I worry if I buy it joe might make gas prices 10 bucks a gallon before I pay it off
