2022 Buick Envision Becomes Both More Affordable And More Expensive

The 2022 Buick Envision is the second model year of the latest second-generation nameplate, arriving with several minor changes over the preceding 2021 model year. Notably, the 2022 Buick Envision is both more affordable and more expensive, depending on the trim level and configuration.

After comparing the specs and features between both model years, we find that the base price for the 2022 Buick Envision preferred FWD is in fact $300 less expensive, priced at $32,695, versus the $32,995 price tag for the 2021 model year, a drop of 0.91 percent. The reason behind the price drop is down to the equipment, with some safety gear previously equipped as standard now offered as optional with the 2022 Buick Envision, a change caused by the microchip shortage.

Now, the 2022 Buick Envision is offered with a new Safety Package priced at $200, which includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert (UKC)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (UFG)

Also of note is the driver four-way power lumbar seat adjuster (RPO code AVK), which was previously standard, but is now optional. The driver four-way power lumbar seat adjuster feature is part of the Premium Seat Package (RPO code Y55), which includes different equipment specific to the different trim levels.

This means that on the Preferred trim, the package includes the driver four-way power lumbar seat, while on the Essence trim, the package includes the driver four-way power lumbar seat and front passenger four-way power lumbar seat adjuster (RPO code AVU). Finally, on the Avenir trim, the package includes the driver four-way power lumbar seat, front passenger four-way power lumbar seat adjuster, and the driver seat massage (AF6) feature.

Pricing for the Premium Seat Package varies, set at $100 for Preferred trims, $200 for Essence trims, and $350 for Avenir trims.

Also notable are the sharp price increases for the 2022 Buick Envision Preferred AWD and 2022 Buick Envision Preferred ST AWD, the former of which is priced at $36,345, an increase of $1,550, and the latter priced at $37,790, an increase of $1,670. That’s because the (PS1) Comfort and Convenience Package is currently a mandatory option on the Preferred AWD and Preferred ST AWD trims. This package includes:

  • Hands-free power tailgate (TC2)
  • Heated steering wheel (UVD)
  • Heated front seats (KA1)
  • Remote vehicle start (BTV)
  • Dual-zone air conditioning (CJ2)
  • 10.2-inch Buick Infotainment System (IOS)
  • Seven-speaker enhanced audio system with amplifier (UQG)
  • Air quality indicator (USK)
  • Automatic air quality indicator/sensor (UEC)
