The 2022 Buick Encore GX adds four new exterior colors: Rosewood Metallic, Cinnabar Metallic, Sapphire Metallic, and Sunset Glow Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Sunset Glow hue.
Assigned color code GHD and touch-up paint code WA-656G, Sunset Glow Metallic is an orange hue. It’s one of three warm hues and six metallic colors available for the small Buick crossover.
Notably, the 2022 Encore GX offers a total of eight exterior color options:
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Satin Steel Metallic
- Summit White
- White Frost Tricoat
- Rosewood Metallic (new for 2022 model year)
- Cinnabar Metallic (new for 2022 model year)
- Sapphire Metallic (new for 2022 model year)
- Sunset Glow Metallic (new for 2022 model year)
The new Sunset Glow Metallic color is not included in the base price of the 2022 Encore GX. Instead, it carries an additional cost of $495. The color option also includes lower exterior accents in Anthracite, as opposed to the Satin Nickel Metallic lower exterior accent color included on models finished in the White Frost Tricoat exterior color. What’s more, Sunset Glow Metallic cannot be combined with the sporty-looking Sport Touring package.
The new Sunset Glow Metallic hue is available with all interior color combinations as well as all trim levels.

Production of Encore GX – and its corporate cousin, the Chevy Trailblazer – was impeded during April 2021 as a result of the microchip shortage. The GM Bupyeong factory in South Korea then went back to full production on May 31st. As such, 2022 units have already reached some U.S. Chevy dealers, including models finished in Sunset Glow Metallic.
Notably, 2022 Buick Encore GX models feature various minor changes and updates. Aside from the deletion of five exterior colors and addition of the four new aforementioned exterior colors, the small crossover also sees the turbocharged 1.3L L3T I4 engine replace the 1.2L LIH I4 engine as the base powerplant on FWD Essence (1SL) models.

Is that the exact same color as “Blaze Orange Metallic” on the Cadillac CT4 and CT5?
And come summer, it will most likely be gone from the order catalog. A tactic GM uses with every other car and truck; but these tactics really stand out with the Camaro and Corvette; which should have vibrant, exciting colors. Not so with GM Execs, who’ve killed off some nice colors over the past 10 years under Barra’s leadership or whatever you call it. This color looks good and is needed on such a bland, nothing-vehicle that is just there taking up space.
Regards to a larger color options list: just how hard is it for GM to stock some desirable paint colors, as everything these days is done by a machine being controlled by a computer??
Dealers tend to stock up inventory with very conservative shades of whites and various shades of silver. Deviating from that is seen as risky. The metallic orange Bolt EV I bought from a dealer in Los Angeles had been sitting on their lot for six months, which likely is why they knocked a substantial amount off the MSRP.
Not sure I would even call this color Orange. Looks more copper to me.
High priced vehicles tend to sit with no sales ..why.. because the stingy banks want too much money for all vehicles this is why there are more vehicles sitting and why parking lots are always were over crowded. then when you do go on the lot they try to push off their old used garbage ones first..and those banks would rather scrap a car than to give it freely to a needy family. I think that car lots should give away new cars to needy people who need them ..not the old trashy ones either.this would show customers that you actually care for others…but you know satan’s running this planet when you see that thousands of elderly people finally getting to drive their first actually new car when they could have been their whole lives or elderly walking to hat can still drive..but stingy banks was holding them back with a rip-off trickery called credit scores that was invented to keep you in a lifetime box…it’s like taxes ..taxes was invented to keep you from ever really owning anything ..you have a car completely paid off and still they put a tag know to you as a tax on it… this ..tag ensures that you will never own it’s long as you agree to pay taxes on it each time you agree to them tagging your paid off stuff like your homes..cars..boats etc ..you are agreeing to never own it..ever wonder why they have to have collateral when you get a loan..that’s because they know you have a paid off vehicle right there they put tags on it..first dibs you might say.they say you will own nothing and be happy…I don’t see it that way..I don’t agree with satan ruling this planet I don’t agree with stingy banks sitting on car lots and I don’t agree with banks sitting on empty new houses while there are trillions of homeless people out there that could use them you see as long as a house stats empty that banker gets more and more tax money back every year if it stays empty…that’s why you see thousands of empty homes just sitting there for years.they put high prices on them hoping that no one buys them then they gain interest in taxes for them for years to come all the while they tell you that your credit scores are too low to buy it…this is how stingy they are..but soon this is all going to change the foot will be on the other foot soon then we will see who does what..God always said that the vingence is his..this means that you will feel the wrath from God’s anger that you were so ..greedy.
