This Is The Chevy Equinox EV

General Motors announced the surprise debut of the new Chevy Equinox EV at CES 2022 today, which will enter production in fall 2023 with an estimated starting price of around $30,000.

The automaker is remaining tight-lipped on the technical details of the Chevy Equinox EV at the moment. For now, all we know is that the battery-electric crossover will leverage the automaker’s new BEV3 platform as well as its Ultium battery and Ultium Drive technologies, and will be offered in both fleet and retail versions, including in the LT and sporty RS trim levels.

In a statement, Chevrolet vice president Steve Hill said the Chevy Equinox EV will be hugely important for the brand, as the compact crossover segment enjoys the highest sales volume in the entire automotive industry.

“The Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as the second-highest selling brand nameplate,” Hill said. “Providing an affordable EV option in the industry’s highest volume segment proves Chevy is going to make EVs available to everyone.”

An artist’s rendition of the Chevy Equinox EV interior shows a digital instrument panel, a large centrally mounted infotainment display and the automaker’s Super Cruise steering wheel. The interior also features circular air vents similar to those seen in the Chevy Blazer crossover and Chevy Camaro sports coupe.

Moving outside, the Equinox EV adopts a sleek exterior design with a narrow LED front light bar spanning the width of the front fascia, small LED fog lamps mounted in the grille, two-tone paint with a contrasting black roof and a rear LED light bar. The RS trim level also gets its own unique exterior treatments, including trim-specific front and rear fascias with sportier, more aggressive styling.
