Refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra Pro Regular Cab Long Box: First Photos

General Motors unveiled the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 in October, pulling the sheets on a full model update for the nameplate. Now, we’re checking out the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra Pro in the Regular Cab / Long Box body configuration thanks to the following exclusive GM Authority photos.

Back in December, we saw the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra Pro in the Crew Cab / Short Box configuration. That particular model was also equipped with the optional X31 off-roading package. By comparison, the 2022 GMC Sierra Pro featured here is the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra Pro in the Regular Cab / Long Box body configuration, seemingly without any packages added.

To note, GM Authority has also covered live photos of the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali, Denali Ultimate, AT4X, and SLT with the X31 package. Also check out our coverage of the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 cab and bed trim level configurations for even more info.

As for what’s under the skin of the model featured here, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra Pro is offered with two engine options, although it’s unclear exactly which engine powers this particular model. The two options include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and an uprated 430 pound-feet of torque, as well as the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This particular model is equipped with four-wheel drive, as indicated by badging in the rear, but rear-wheel drive is also offered.

Elsewhere in the lineup, the refreshed GMC Sierra 1500 is offered with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

The exterior of this 2022 GMC Sierra Pro is covered in Summit White paint. The front end features a chrome header grille with flat-black grille insert bars, which is bookended by headlamps with LED reflectors and a Fade-on/ Fade-off animation, LED turn signals, and Daytime Running Lamps.

Riding in the corners are 17-inch Silver-painted steel wheels (RPO code RD6). Meanwhile, in the rear, we find LED taillights with LED signatures and a Fade-on/Fade-off animation, an incandescent stop lamp, and turn and reverse lights.

Looking ahead, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will also gain a standard box option.

As a reminder, the GMC Sierra Pro replaces the “base-model” in the Sierra 1500 lineup for the 2022 model year, likely as a reference to the  professionals that typically buy the entry-level trim. Previously, the base model was simply known as the “Sierra.”

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 rides on the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. Looks good for a work truck trim. I think the decision to offer two interior again like the 07-13 trucks is smart if priced accordingly for the WT/Pro and Custom trim trucks.

Only thing, the 3.0 diesel could be a popular engine in the WT/Pro. Lots of construction and deliver guys may bite.

  5. How about a short bed regular cab? Without a ton of junk added on. Remember just the basis stuff with about 5 engine options.

    1. They will surely have a Base Model Regular with no frills, at best, you may just get only 2 engine choices out of that deal, unbelievable due to the fact that vehicles in Mexico and in the Middle East have far more Powertrain options.

    1. Those lawsuits that gm can’t sweep under the rug at this point should keep them from putting anymore of those trucks out there like that; especially if they can’t afford to do without those trucks being in the market, that would surely mark the end for the entire brand.

  8. I’m a fan of the current Sierra, but this looks good. Much better than the Silverado refresh abomination. It’s maddening though that the base Sierras don’t have the black bumpers like the Silverado. Who wants chrome bumpers on a W/T…

    1. The Sierra Pro will come with Plastic Bumpers especially for Fleet Buyers, that option isn’t going away, gm just chose to display one in chrome. There’s really nothing wrong with Chrome Bumpers on a W/T it’s all based in consumer choice on what looks right to them.

      1. They’re not plastic. Painted steel. And the Silverado WT comes with black, Sierra chrome. I don’t think black is even an option on the Sierra base. Painted is much more appropriate on a WT, and looks better. Why do you think ppl pay thousands for “midnight” packages. Chrome sucks, a lot harder to fix, rust etc… you scuff or dent a bumper that’s painted, and it’s easy to take care of. Hence why on a WT it’s the only way to go.

  10. How about a regular cab short bed or regular bed well equipped like in Arabia such as the RST or Trail Boss. I like driving a truck, want it well equipped, but don’t want a long vehicle… you make em in the US for export, so let me buy one that is heading for export. Crap, I’d even buy a FORD or RAM, but they don’t make one either

  11. I want a short bed (or even a regular bed) regular cab, well equipped, like a RST or trail boss, that you make for export… I’d even buy a FORD, RAM, or Toyota if they made one. I like driving a truck but no a long vehicle.
