Late last month, GM Authority reported that some GMC models would offer limited availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature, as well as the Rear Park Assist feature. Now, GM Authority has learned that additional GMC models will have limited availability of these two features.
As before, the limited availability of these two features is the result of the ongoing global microchip shortage. At this time, it is uncertain if these features will be eligible for retrofit at a later date, as is the case for heated steering wheels and heated seats, or if customers with affected models will be offered some kind of credit.
As covered previously, the limited availability of Front and Rear Park Assist feature, as well as the Rear Park Assist feature, affects some units of 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 LTD, but now, the limited availability is also expected to affect the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, with some units built without Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD7) and Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5).
That said, production of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has yet to start, so the limited availability of these two features may change by the time full-scale production officially gets under way.
As a reminder, Rear Park Assist is set to be offered with the GMC Pro Safety Plus Package (RPO code PQA) for base-model Pro trim levels, as well as part of the Sierra Safety Plus Package (RPO code PED) for SLE and Elevation trim levels. Meanwhile, Front and Rear Park Assist is set to be offered as part of the Sierra Safety Plus Package (RPO code PED) for SLT and AT4 trims, and is included as standard for AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate trims.
Finally, starting with vehicles produced Monday, January 24th, some units of the 2022 GMC Yukon will be built without Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5). Front and Rear Park Assist is usually standard on all trim levels of the 2022 GMC Yukon.
Check out the table below for a complete breakdown of the GMC models with limited park assist feature availability:
Model | Affected Trim Levels | Affected Units | Rear Park Assist | Front and Rear Park Assist |
---|---|---|---|---|
GMC Sierra 1500 (Refreshed Model) | Pro, SLE, Elevation | Some units | X | |
GMC Sierra 1500 (Refreshed Model) | SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate | Some units | X | |
GMC Yukon | Elevation, AT4, Denali | Some units | X |

Won’t be long before you go to a dealership, pay 60-80k and they bring around a rolling chassis with a seat and steering wheel, neither of which will be heated.
Why did GM trucks go from a 10 speed transmission last year back to an eight speed transmission this year in 2022?
Go try to buy a GM truck right now, any truck. It’s laughable to see the “rebates” for any of these vehicles or articles written as if you can actually get one. They don’t exist! At least where I’m located you can’t find one (that you’d actually want) within at least 1500 miles. I began looking in August and after realizing you can’t just buy one as it used to be, I put in an order at the beginning of November and still haven’t heard anything.
I can relate to your frustration. I ordered the 2022-year limited edition Denali in November only to be told this week that this model is no longer in production. I then ordered the refreshed model Denali (NOT the ultimate) only to be told that the Carbon Fiber bed is NOT being offered at this time. I am going to wait until it is available, but I already had to wait for the original order to be canceled. Now I have to wait longer for the newest model to have the accessories that it said would be offered.
Well my order hasn’t been cancelled yet, but I’m assuming it’s going to be. I ordered a loaded 1500 AT4 and that’s the truck, probably along with the Denali, that’s so difficult to get, especially with the 3.0 and standard bed. Still waiting, fingers crossed.
You really consider even buying from a company that would eliminate this feature. Are you kidding? Deal breaker for us we cancelled our order on a new Yukon
I Received my 2022 Denial Ultimate in May and still do not have Front and Rear assist. Ultimately all I can do Is wait…
