More Buick Models Get Limited Park Assist Availability

Back in December, GM Authority reported that the 2022 Buick Enclave would have limited availability for the Front and Rear Park Assist feature. Now, GM Authority has learned that additional Buick models have been affected by limited availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature, as well as the Rear Park Assist feature.

The limited availability of Front and Rear Park Assist and Rear Park Assist is once again a result of the ongoing global microchip shortage. At present, it’s unclear if these features will be available for retrofit in the future, as is the case for Buick vehicles affected by limited availability of heated steering wheels and heated seats. It’s also unclear if affected models will come with a credit for customers.

Affected models include the 2022 Buick Encore GX. Starting with vehicles produced January 10th, some units of the 2022 Buick Encore GX will be built without the Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD7). Usually, Rear Park Assist is included and only available with the Safety Package (RPO code WPD) for the 2022 Buick Encore GX Preferred trim level. The feature is also included and only available with the Advanced Technology Package (RPO code WPA) for 2022 Buick Encore GX Select and Essence trim levels.

The limited availability also affects the 2022 Buick Envision. Starting with vehicles produced January 24th, some units of the 2022 Buick Envision will be built without Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD7) or Front and Rear Park Assist (RPO code UD5). Rear Park Assist is usually standard on 2022 Buick Envision Preferred and Essence trim levels, while Front and Rear Park Assist is usually included and only available with the Technology Package I (RPO code CXH) on Essence trim levels, and included as standard on the Avenir.

Check out the table below for a complete breakdown of which Buick models are now affected by limited availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature, as well as the Rear Park Assist feature:

    1. Can’t remember the last time I sold a Buick to old folks. 35 to 45 would be about average

      1. Not according to the stats online. Hate to break it to you but the average Buick buyer is 60.3 years of age. Don’t take my word for it look it up yourself.

        1. If you reread my post I was referring to my experience.
Yes the average age of my Buick customers over the last few years has been in the 40’s. When Buick still sold the last generation of cars the seniors didn’t like them, it wasn’t the ride they expected. When the cars where dropped many younger folks started looking at the SUV’s.

Based on my experience and in my area that’s all my comment was, Feel free to continue to reuse the Buick’s are for old peoples jokes for as long as you want.

                1. Yes, the 60.3 age for Buick buyers is based on a 2013 survey. Please check your Google search again.

Recent CarMax study, 2018, has Buick average age as 45.6 – matching myeyeshurt’s anecdotal account.

As Buick is also considered a more premium line than most, one may expect it to skew a bit older as that demographic may have the resources for an Enclace Avenir and bypass on the basic Hyundai, which sports an average age 37.6.

  3. FWIW I was 52 when I bought my 2020 Regal GS. Love the car and only wish Buick still made cars. My next car will be a Cadillac if they still make ICE powerplants when I’m ready to buy again.

  4. I don’t care what age group buys a Buick, but I have been waiting for a year for my park assist to be installed and if is not done soon this 79.5 year old won’t be buying another one, ever!
