GM To Deploy BrightDrop EV600 Vans In The Middle East

Although General Motors just unveiled the new BrightDrop EV600 last year in conjunction with the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the first units of the all-electric light commercial van have already been delivered to U.S. customers, making the EV600 the fastest-developed vehicle in GM history. Now, the BrightDrop EV600 is set to arrive in the Middle East, as well.

Per a series of announcements made in conjunction with the CES 2022, the BrightDrop EV600 will be one of several all-electric General Motors vehicles set to deploy in the Middle East region, with the new GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq also slated to arrive there by 2025. Each of these vehicles will feature GM’s Ultium battery technology and Ultium drive motor technology.

“Following the MOU signed with Emirates Post recently, Ultium also powers the BrightDrop EV600, which is a key component of General Motors’ strategy for the delivery and logistics sector globally and regionally,” General Motors states.

As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors is pursuing an ambitious EV strategy in the Middle East, with plans to offer a wide range of vehicles under the Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC brands. In total, GM is set to introduce 13 new EVs in the region over the course of the next three years.

The new BrightDrop EV600 is designed for last-mile delivery of goods and services, and features an estimated range-per-charge of 250 miles, and a peak charging rate of 170 miles per hour via 120kW DC fast charger sources. The EV600 is also capable of packing in more than 600 cubic-feet of cargo, and is equipped with several modern safety and convenience features, such as Front and Rear Park Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Following Distance Indicator, among others. Production takes place at the GM CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

  4. i really think these vans should be hybrid especially vans that will be in areas where there is limited charging capability… I’d invest in tow trucks. Spear me the details about the truck being apart of a fleet with a defined route. Those vehicles will be sold one day and the new owner will suffer. In our time of transition (2022 to 2040 depending on where on earth you are) I don’t believe full electric is ideal for everyone. Toyota is right,,,,,,, again.
