GM Design Team Show Off Future Chevy Truck Design Sketches

General Motors unveiled the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV in conjunction with the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month, revealing a brand-new, all-electric version of the popular pickup. In addition to an electric powertrain, the new Silverado EV also debuts new styling, and now, we’re looking over a set of battery-driven Chevy truck sketches from GM Design.
Recently posted to the GM Design Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign), the sketches look quite a bit like the production fascia for the new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV. The future Chevy truck design incorporates a long horizontal lighting strip, linking signature lighting elements in the upper corners with a prominent light bar across the middle of the grille. The Chevy Bow Tie badge is placed high and center, while additional lighting elements can be found lower in the grille.
As for the grille itself, this future Chevy truck design keeps most of the fascia blocked off. Unlike internal combustion-powered vehicles, all-electric vehicles don’t necessarily need a ton of fresh airflow to keep mechanical components cool. Rather, the fascia is blocked off the reduce aerodynamic drag and increase average range-per-charge.
Additional future Chevy truck design sketches show the sides and rear of the vehicle, including oversized wheels and thin tires, as expected of a concept. Notably, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is set to become the first production vehicle to wear 24-inch wheels right from the factory, a trend that was predicted by GM design chief Michael Simcoe back in 2019. According to Simcoe, 24-inchers, and even 26-inch wheels are coming, continuing the plus-sized wheel style to new extremes.
Naturally, these concepts are a whole other level, exaggerating the styling elements for maximum visual impact. Nevertheless, the look does well to show where the new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV came from in terms of aesthetic.

I understand the government is pushing the automotive industry into moving in the direction of electric vehicle. But Chevrolet need to retire the Silverado name with the gas engine.. Don’t put it on what they want to call a truck. They did away with the Avalanche just to bring it back to make it even a more sad looking “truck”! G.M. do the Silverado name justice and retire the name. And PLEASE don’t come back with the Monte Carlo name and put it on one of these sad looking vehicle. At least Ford got most of it right and kept a lot of the real truck look. Guess I have to buy 1 more new Silverado with real engine that will last me the rest of my life.
Seriously? Ford got it right? When, exactly? Was it when they names their EV a ‘Mustang’? Give me a break!
First off, the Avalanche was a great and versatile truck. Only Chevrolet’s poor marketing of the truck let every owner down.
As for poor Gary being disappointed with an EV Silverado, many people don’t have the same opinion. In fact, when reservations opened for the new ‘Silverado EV’, they were all gone within 12 minutes. I’d be the first to agree that the pricing needs a lot of work. Paying six figures for any truck is ridiculous. For a truck that’s allegedly being marketed to everyone, it’s absurd. But apparently it may not be too high, since so many people want one.
Stormy Gary is stuck in the stone age…if ICE trucks are so much better then why is GM having lifter issues with their good ol’ V8 engines that are time tested and proven? Why is Ford have turbo failure issues with the F150 turbo V6… I can tell you why it’s what happens when you try to fit a dinosaur with modern technology… It inevitably falls apart… The ICE engine is maxed out face the facts they can’t do anymore to make it more efficient or better for the environment! I will buy the the SILVERADO EV!
so the full size truck with the 5.3 gets the same or better mileage than a colorado with a v6 …. THATS A GOOD ONE … i would like to know what that is based on
Hate to be a ass or anything but we are trying to go electric without the infrastructure to support said cars. Look at Cali. They are having issues support the electric cars they have now
I just drove from NY to Florida then Florida back to NY 2 days South 2 days North 12-15 hrs drive stayed the night 12-15 2nd day same on the way back depended on traffic …. Diesel 2500 HD 4 fill ups 20 mpg each stop 15 minutes for Fuel about 500 miles a tank at a Max of 400 miles a charge on Electric how long would my stops be to charge it back to full ? How many days to make it with Electric? And in the middle of all this there was the big storm where everyone was stranded on I95 thankfully I drove further west 95 to 26 to 70 to ,81 so what happens if someone runs out of power on the roadside bring a can of electricity? a 4-5 day trip with 4 hr stops to recharge EV? Electric will never be the answer in my opinion!!
And by the way I see ZERO recharging Station the 2800 mile trip
I’m a former GM Technician and have always been a die hard GM fan. Other than a future purchase of a Duramax I wouldn’t buy any other POS they are making!
I’m not interested in an ev, but I know many are. That’s fine. There’s room for gas and electric. Different options for the consumer are good.
In m day we had many many option. You buy a plain jane economy car or a fully loaded luxury or muscle car and could travel across country in each of them. I don’t see that happening with an electric vehicle. The sad parts they are not going to gives gasoline guys any choice. By the time the get to all electric it is unlikely I will be around to see it. Feel sorry for the younger generation of gear heads.
Electric vehicles are like used condoms not very useful!!
I understand the direction the industry is going but can Trucks and car be designed to be more visually appealing, not look like a electric vehicle in front. If it’s a appealing to the eye it will sell, pass GM sales prove that.
Plus get away from those low budget looking wheels. The electric car or truck exterior appearance needs to go to another level !!!!
