General Motors’ crosstown rival, Ford Motor Company, has “one-upped” GM by offering a new money-back guarantee on its certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles.
For those that may have missed it, General Motors recently launched CarBravo, a used vehicle shopping service with access to a large inventory of vehicles via multiple shopping channels. GM Authority exclusively covered GM’s trademark filing for the CarBravo character mark in July of 2021.
The new CarBravo service includes both General Motors vehicles and non-GM vehicles, and also offers things like dealer pricing information, vehicle history reports, and a 360-degree view of vehicles. What’s more, each listed vehicles is inspected and reconditioned in order to meet GM standards, while customers will be eligible to receive online offers from Black Book to buy their vehicle. Finally, CarBravo offers standard warranty coverage on all vehicles listed.
Now, however, as reported by our sister publication, Ford Authority, Ford has effectively upped the ante by offering a 14-day, 1,000-mile money-back guarantee through its own CPO service, Ford Blue Advantage. The new policy will go into effect February 1st, 2022. Previously, the Ford Blue Advantage program offered a four-day, 200-mile return policy.
Ford launched the Ford Blue Advantage program last year as a used vehicle sales platform designed to assist dealers in competing against rival services like CarMax. As such, the Ford Blue Advantage program offers many of the same benefits, such as guaranteed pricing, home delivery, and a vehicle return policy.
The new platform also helps dealers as they struggle to secure inventory in the face of dwindling production as a result of the global microchip shortage, as well as increasing demand.
Although Ford’s pilot return program found that less than one percent of customers return their vehicle after purchase, the return policy did help to drive sales and improve overall customer satisfaction.

Well, if you getting vehicles from them, you gonna use the money back guarantee…
Frustrated Owners Realize Defects…..
It’s unfortunate gm did not offer this when they killed 13 people and injured 100s more because of there cheap negligence with the ignition switch.
They had to catch up with Dearborn’s deathcount of exploding compacts and improper tire SUVs …
So sad to think they knew for over a decade those ignition switches were faulty but did nothing. Sad day when a company would rather make money then protect the people who are making them money. No excuses for that at all. But of course it’s justified because they paid a fine we all know money brings back dead people.
Just like the excuse of saving $10 per car in order to not have a safe fuel tank like the company in question. I had 2 GMs from the “Ignition Switch Recall” era, none of them cut off while driving, when they did the dealer gave me new keys.
No excuse just pure incompetence on gm behalf. I’m glad you did not have an issue with ignition switch but unfortunately 13 others did who can no longer speak and hundreds of others were injured. But as I said before money fixes everything it’s all good they paid a fine so who cares.
Hank – Maybe you weren’t around when Ford’s Pintos in the 1970’s became exploding bombs when hit from the rear? You can learn more about it here: https://www.autosafety.org/ford-pinto-fuel-tank/
Seems one of the car makers offered this option on new cars some time ago…don’t recall it making that big of a splash.
Saturn did this on new vehicles 30 years ago, and it was one of the many reasons why they had some of the highest satisfaction ratings in the industry.

This is the new used car market.
It is dominated by large and centralised companies with a high turnover of used cars. It seems that all auto manufacturers are entering this market, after companies like CarMax created this business model.
I heard from at least one of such company operating in Germany, that they not only clean the car in and out, but also replace wearing parts, in some cases even the engine.
I expect that this market will thrive because of governments plan to prohibit the sale of newly built ICE cars. Until now, those announced prohibitions to sell new ICE cars, did not concern the sale of used cars. The average age of cars on the road will increase this way, I presume.
Im a GM guy at heart but must admit ford is really eating their lunch these days. Bronco, maverick, powerboost, raptor, and lightening. Gm doesnt have an answer for most and for the few they do they are years away.
My G M dealer has a forever warnnety on all cars they sell. New or used.
