First Cadillac IQ Charging Station Opens In China

Cadillac continues to advance its transformation strategy to commercialize electric vehicles on a large scale in China, a fundamental pillar of the brand that plans to sell only EVs by the end of the decade. After receiving more than 5,000 reservations for the all-new 2023 Lyriq and opening a new Pure Electric IQ Store in Shanghai late last year, the brand has just opened the first Cadillac IQ charging station in the Asian country.

Cadillac IQ charging station at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport

The first Cadillac IQ charging station in China opened this week in the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport parking lot, supporting the comprehensive plan to locally launch the Cadillac Lyriq as the brand’s first all-electric vehicle. The new Cadillac IQ station provides a unique service experience to users by combining charging, parking and rest in one place.

This is the first of many Cadillac IQ EV charging stations that the SAIC-GM joint venture will deploy this year in China, which will exclusively serve customers of the Cadillac Lyriq and the brand’s future electric vehicles in the Chinese market. Like the all-new Cadillac IQ Store, the charging stations will be introduced in Shanghai and then spread to major cities across the country.

In particular, the first Cadillac IQ charging station at the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport has a total of five charging spots. These are distributed in an equal number of parking spaces and are made up of three standard 7 kW AC charging stations, complemented by two additional DC fast charging stations of up to 120 kW, proudly signed with the GM Ultium brand.

In addition to the charging service, the exclusive Cadillac IQ charging station offers users free parking for up to 48 hours, highly convenient in a large and high-traffic airport such as Shanghai Hongqiao. It also includes a minimalist rest area with a variety of drinks, free Wi-Fi connectivity, wireless mobile phone charging and other convenient services while customers wait for their vehicle to be charged.

The first Cadillac IQ charging station in China is already up and running and is specifically located at booths B5022-B5026, floor 2F of parking lot P7 in Terminal T2 of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The station features Cadillac’s latest global branding with monochrome logo and new font, and includes reservation capability through the official Cadillac IQ App.
