The 2023 Corvette Z06 is here, debuting last October and upping the ante with a new level of performance for the mid-engine C8. Now, as is tradition, the very first retail production 2023 Corvette Z06 will be auctioned off for charity.
Offered as Lot #3009 at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction event in Scottsdale, set to take place between December 22nd and December 30th, the auction for the first retail production 2023 Corvette Z06 will be held Saturday, January 29th at 8:30 p.m. MT.
At this point, it’s anybody’s guess what the final price will be, but for reference, when Barrett-Jackson auctioned off the first production 2020 Corvette coupe back in 2020, NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick nabbed it for a cool $3 million. All proceeds from that sale went to the Detroit Children’s Fund. Meanwhile, the proceeds for the upcoming 2023 Corvette Z06 auction will go to benefit Operation Homefront, with provides financial assistance and housing support to post-9/11 wounded, military families, and veterans.
Production of the new Corvette Z06 has yet to hit full stride, and as such, details on the 2023 Corvette sold with this auction are not set in stone. However, it is expected to be a hardtop model, rather than a convertible, with the auction winner selecting from the Z06’s many options, which includes 12 exterior colors and seven interior colorways, not to mention the highly desirable Z07 Performance package.
What’s more, it’s possible the car may not even bear the coveted “VIN 001,” as the auction states that “depending on the state of registration of the buyer, the vehicle may require an inspection and be subject to a state-issued VIN and/or other requirements of that state.”
However, like all 2023 Corvette Z06 models, this one will be equipped with the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, featuring a flat-plane crank, an 8,600-rpm redline, and 670 horsepower. The exterior will have a wider stance than the C8 Stingray, as well as more aggressive aero and a unique rear fascia with a center-mounted exhaust
Under the skin, the 2023 Corvette Z06 rides on the Y2 platform, with production set to take place at the GM Bowling Green facility in Kentucky.

I’ll bet the man Rick Hendericks gets it. The man has a great race teams and tons of money.
I was thinking the same thing! He is building quite the collection of VIN001 Chevrolets…
Cheating your taxes does have its benefits it seems…
I haven’t been a fan of the C8 Z06 body changes since it was revealed. Especially not the side wishbone inlet surround. But I must admit, it has grown on me. I really like my ’21 C8 3LT Z51 – but this may be a nice complement – some day !
I’m betting Mr. H gets it too. I have had the privilege of viewing his collection a couple of times and it’s fantastic.
With all due respect to the Mr. or Mrs. Hendricks that could afford to spend ridiculous amounts on a vehicle purchase it is too bad that gm doesn’t do right by the good folks that actually buy gm cars in North America and raffle off this first Corvette. I figure raffle tickets bought online for say $20 bucks a chance would make charity a whole lot more money then an auction. It would give all of the poor folks a chance at a dream. Besides the raffle winner could always sell it to Hendricks if he or she really wanted it.
Joe Biden asked if he could bid with Chinese Yen.
