The Cadillac Blackwing sedans, including the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, are no longer available to order with Dark Emerald Frost paint, GM Authority has learned.
According to Cadillac spokesperson Stefan Cross, the Dark Emerald Frost paint option (color code G7W) was a limited, promotional hue only offered for the 2022 Cadillac Blackwing sedans.
The Dark Emerald Frost paint has a matte finish that looks quite good on the chiseled, aggressive Cadillac Blackwing body panels. The paint color was previously known as Dark Emerald Matte before General Motors renamed the hue. Pricing for the optional color was $3,925, making it the most-expensive paint option in the Cadillac Blackwing lineup, followed by Infrared Tintcoat at $1,225.
Earlier this month, GM Authority brought you some of the very first real-world images of a 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing finished in Dark Emerald Frost, with the paint complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels with Polish/Dark Android accents and both the Carbon Fiber 1 and Carbon Fiber 2 aerodynamics packages.
For those who may not remember, the Cadillac Blackwing sedans are offered as the top performers in their respective model lines.
The CT4-V Blackwing is equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, sending output rearwards through either a six-speed manual, or a 10-speed automatic. Meanwhile, the CT5-V Blackwing is equipped with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, also mating to either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
Both Cadillac Blackwing sedans ride on the GM Alpha 2 platform, and both are produced at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan.

Yep. All orders have been fulfilled.
Here today… GONE TOMORROW !!
Saw better pictures than what’s been posted on here, but I can definitely say it looked fantastic! It must’ve been due the the extra costs to order this hue which caused it quick demise 🤔.
I don’t get why anyone would order matte paints. They are so fragile you can’t drive the car. You can barely wash it. Just google wash wax auto matte paint to get a flavor of how delicate they are.
Rinseless washes, that is about it, of course done correctly with the correct towels and professional products. Problem is there is very little gloss to matte paints, so it always has a dull look to them, even after detailing them.
i like these before and after pics.
before : blackwing parked in front of the mini-mansion.
after : blackwing for sale by what appears to be the most dilapidated car dealer in the lower 48.
In a previous post, the car shown was ordered and then declined. It was for sale at a truck dealership, which tells me the thing came off the hauler damaged and the person that ordered it said no way. If it couldn’t be fixed properly then it was half a$$ed and couldn’t be sold as new so off it went to the truck dealership after an auction.
Just my theory on the whole deal. My 2020 CT6 had a rim scratched when it was unloaded. The dealer immediately called GM and ordered a new set of 4 and the carrier was charged for the rims. They gave me a $1500 credit on the purchase since I had waited almost 6 months for the car to be built.
What the #$!🤬
That color was beautiful in my opinion!
I like for Cadillac to bring it back without the matte finish.
This color would look stunning on a Camaro ZL1 Convertible!
The color was for collectors only. Not for drivers.
Are all the CT5-V allotments full?
The first 250 have been built and it looks like additional 2022 models have and will be built until July. 2023 CT5 and CT4 V’s and Blackwing’s will reportedly go into production after July.
The problem is lots of dealerships are struggling to get allocations for the 5BW and if they do they are charging anywhere from $10-$50K over MSRP. If you can find a dealership to place an order once they get an allocation you should be able to get a 5BW, but it may take 6 months to a year before its in your driveway.
