All available Canadian reservation slots for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition have now been spoken for, GM Authority can confirm.
GM Canada began accepting pre-orders for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition on January 5th at 1:00 p.m. EST – shortly after the vehicle made its official debut at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Canadian consumers have since claimed every available reservation slot for the high-performance electric pickup truck, although it’s not clear how many slots GM had available to begin with.
U.S. reservations of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition sold out just 12 minutes after GM opened them up. Demand for the electric truck seems a bit lower in Canada, then, although a smaller population and less overall enthusiasm for EVs likely contributed to the lower demand for the vehicle north of the border.
Motivation in the 2024 Chevy Silverado RST First Edition is sourced from a dual-motor e4WD system, rated at 664 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque with the available Wide Open Watts Mode activated. The pickup is based on GM’s dedicated Ultium BEV platform and features a 24-module Ultium battery pack providing upwards of 400 miles of driving range.
While all reservation slots for the 2024 Chevy Silverado RST First Edition have been spoken for, customers can still put themselves on a waitlist to receive the vehicle. This may result in them being added to the list of reservations, as some reservation holders may opt to not purchase the vehicle they’ve reserved, bumping customers up the waitlist.
Canadian Chevy customers can also put themselves on the waitlist for the Silverado EV Work Truck (or WT), which runs a dual-motor setup producing 510 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, offering 8,000 pounds of towing and 1,200 pounds of payload capacity. It features the same 24-module Ultium battery pack providing an estimated 400 miles of range.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition will commence at the GM Orion Assembly plant in Michigan in early 2024.

I thought the avalanche was canceled?
I’m glad someone likes it.
Wow, they sold all 10 pre-orders!
Canadians always buy more GMC pickups than Chevrolet pickups so I’m not surprised it took this long to sell out first editions
I’m also waiting for them to launch the GMC version.
Might also have something to do with the GM plant in Oshawa.
When I put in my reservation (GM Canada launched the link late), first edition reservation’s showed sold out 10 minutes after I put mine in.
This will be an interesting release in Canada.
With Canada having four beautiful seasons and a very hearty winter climate in all provinces, I’m standing by to watch winter performance of this EV unit. BTW: Winter is my favorite season. As we all know, long cold winter weather below 20 degrees takes a toll on vehicle components. Hope they hardened this EV for extreme winter temperatures.
A Ranger size Avalanche with an LG battery?. No thanks!
Not sure if you actually looked at dimensions but this isn’t the same size as a Ranger.
This has everything to do with gas prices, I live in Canada, by the time this truck comes out it will be over $2 a litre. I’ll do the math for you, that’s 3.78 litres for 1 gallon of gas, that’s $7.50 for a gallon of gas!!
That is it Jason:
Whether people purchase ICE’s or EV’s will be dependent on the difference in price between refueling…. Wide open areas with plenty of driving to do will obviously make people think about how much they could save in Spring, Summer, and Fall, with plug-ins….
I don’t see much savings in the wintertime, however, since the cabin, and the battery itself must be heated.
GM can electrify all they want its the future but if they make them gutless or slower than the competition ill never by another one!
When you travel a lot 400 miles on a charge isn’t enough. Drive 400 miles stopping for gas takes 5 minutes, recharging takes 8 hours. I’ll stick with gas.
I agree with you
45 minutes or less to recharge and updated fast charging tech soon will have these vehicle batteries charging in 30 min or less.
Wonder if the rapid-quick rejuicing of batteries 🤔 will take a toll on overall battery life? With these electric car batteries being the new big thing, many questions have yet to be answered.
That Tesla owner in Finland only got five years out of his big tray of batteries. Replacement cost of that heavy battery tray, and the current value of his Tesla with his spent battery tray moved him to scrap and blast the vehicle.
