The 2022 GMC Terrain is offered as the fifth model year of the second-generation nameplate, introducing a refresh for the compact five-door crossover. Now, GM Authority has learned that 2022 GMC Terrain Elevation Edition is available to order.

The Elevation Edition is available with the following exterior colors (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Quicksilver Metallic (GAN)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Ebony Twilight Metallic (GB8)
- Marine Metallic (GHT)
- Cayenne Red Tintcoat (GSK)
The Elevation Edition also requires the Jet Black interior (Premium cloth seats, RPO code HEW) for SLE trims and the Jet Black interior (Perforated leather seats, RPO code H0Y) for SLT trims.
As GM Authority covered previously, production of the 2022 GMC Terrain has been disrupted multiple times due to the ongoing global microchip shortage. In fact, production of the 2022 Terrain at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico was halted between June and November of the 2021 calendar year, resulting in very low inventory.
The Terrain was originally set for a model refresh with the 2021 model year, but as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was delayed until the 2022 model year.
Under the hood, the 2022 GMC Terrain is powered by the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, rated at 170 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 203 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. A GM nine-speed automatic transmission provides the cog swaps, with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive to put it to the ground. Under the body panels, the 2022 GMC Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform.

and the whopping 1.5 liter motor
The Elevation Edition needs the larger 2 liter turbo! It is all looks and no go. I had a ’19 Terrain SLT with the blackout package (almost the same with black 19 inch wheels, black lettering and grille, etc with the 2 liter turbo and it ran good. Switched to the new Buick Envision ST at the end of the lease as no way I was going to lease a new Terrain with the lowly 1.5 liter engine. Glad I did, as the Envision ST is so much better!!
1.5 engine what I’m going to do with that tricycles have bigger engines than that it’s a shame gm not offering 2.0 l option for the terrain !!
The Terrain has always had a very nice exterior design, much nicer than its sister Equinox, (IMO)
Very off topic but right as they make the GMC with the at4 packages I could you imagine if they made them actually off-road capable with maybe a locking rear I would like that little trailblazer to be off-road capable like the old ZR2 tracker. The new Silverado they built to take on raptor which isn’t going to happen I mean we took the third spot it’s a sad can you imagine if they put the 30s blind 35 spline CV axles in our off-road capable trucks and maybe a aftermarket 35 spline axles with a locker I mean my uncle had he was my cousin he had a Dodge power wagon macho truck way 5000 lb truck would go anywhere you could imagine had the worst wiring problems in the world and the motors would blow but it came with the 360 from the factory and every dent in that truck was from the mountains I wish I had it GM are too worried about sales. It’s hard to find workers but if they could add to the list of options people would pay people make money lots of money people would pay for a 6-in lift from the factory three inch lift from the factory GM they’re they’re redesigning eight 2010 heavy duty trucks had the smallest brake rotors I have ever seen thank God I have a 2012 when they actually redone it and box the frame put big rotors on there how we ever got away with putting such small brake rotors on those trucks I’m done sorry
Dwight that is always subjective. If it would be for the design, much nicer, then the sales volume would be the opposite.
In my case I do not like GMC designs. And particularly for the Terrain, I had one (just to try if I can have some love with GMC) two years ago, and the ETRS with buttons in the center is as bad and wrong as it could be.
Sometime ago, there was a lot of criticism of the HHR center mounted window controls, in such a way that after the third year of production it was move to the doors.
Now years later, the engineers ignored that, and they came with this shifter center mounted.
Literally annoying!
I had a 2015 Terrain and I have a lot of back problems the ride was smoother than any vehicle of its size! I personally do not like the body changes, I don’t want to turn a button to start it or put it in gear. There are no options you can’t get a different engine, transmission nothing! I hate black interior. Seems we keep getting less but paying more!
The only problem I have with the Terrain is that in cold weather the inter cooler for the turbo collects water than freeze’s and check engine light comes on and lower engine power comes on the dash
