2022 Corvette Gets Limited High Wing Spoiler Availability

Availability for C8 Corvette Stingray‘s optional High Wing Rear Spoiler is currently limited, GM Authority has learned.

Due to production constraints at the supplier that manufactures the optional Carbon Flash painted High Wing Spoiler, this component will be available in limited capacity for the foreseeable future. The Carbon Flash painted High Wing Rear Spoiler, which is an LPO-level, dealer-installed part, carries RPO code 5ZZ and costs $1,295 to equip.

While customers cannot order the regular Carbon Flash painted High Wing Spoiler, the regular, non-painted High Wing Spoiler, tagged with RPO code 5ZU, can also still be ordered for $1,295. Meanwhile, the new-for-2022 and much pricier High Wing Spoiler with Visible Carbon Fiber is also unavailable for now. This component is tagged with RPO code 5V5 and should cost $6,495 to equip.

This isn’t the first time the High Wing Spoiler has been dropped from the C8 Corvette Stingray’s order books. The automaker was also forced to remove it amid the 2020 model year due to higher-than-expected demand before re-introducing it for the 2021 model year. The 2022 model year also saw the introduction of a new $595 Low-Profile Rear Spoiler, RPO code TVS, which serves as a more subtle alternative to the Z51 Package spoiler or the High Wing Spoiler.

2022 Corvette with available Low Profile Spoiler

Production of the 2022 Corvette Stingray takes place at the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky. In addition to the aforementioned Low-Profile Rear Spoiler, the 2022 model year also introduced a long list of other changes to the mid-engine sports car, including the addition of three new exterior colors: Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic and Amplify Orange Tintcoat. The 2022 model year also saw the introduction of the limited-run IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, which marks Corvette Racing’s championship-winning IMSA seasons in 2020 and 2021.

We’ll provide an update on the availability of the Carbon Flash painted High Wing Spoiler once more information becomes available. In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more mid-engine Corvette news, Corvette C8 news, Corvette news, Chevrolet news, and 24/7 GM news coverage.

  1. Spoilers use chips too?

  2. You can’t get the black accessory wheels. Now you can’t get the high wing spoiler. What’s going on? Very frustrating. Do other car companies have these problems?

  3. My understanding of the shortages on the parts like spoilers, door sills, was covid affected production on these suppliers.
Many of the companies just lost too many people to being sick. My place has probably 20 percent of the workforce out at any one time from covid, as soon as those people come back, another group gets symptoms and is out. So that could
be one reason. Cargo ships not getting unloaded also seems to be a problem.

  4. I feel a little taken advantage of by some of these suppliers. Thousands and hundreds of dollars for parts that really are
at full mark up, worth half, or less. From a cost of design and production point of view. Carbon Flash ? That is just a black paint with metallic in it. I bought a can for $5 at the home improvement store to do some matching on the car. A $500 engine cover ? Bought $12 Edge Red paint at the auto parts store and painted my engine cover…
I feel like the community is taking advantage of Corvette buyers, sure we bought $80,000 cars that look awesome, but why does every little thing for a C8 have to be so high priced ? Because it is a C8, and we can afford it…
Sorry if you are all offended by my comment.

  5. I got really excited on the website and loaded my car with all kinds of features, at $495 and $995. When it came time to place the order I calmed down, really thought about what I could add afterward, took out the cosmetic add ons and my $92,000 car
was delivered for a sticker of $76,000 with Z51, Mag Ride, Front Lift, 2LT. And I am very happy with the result.
And my car looks different from all the rest, why ? Everyone loaded up on “Carbon Flash” (i.e. painted) trim parts
and extras. Mine is so plain, it catches people off guard. And I can add what I want now, at about half the dealer price.
Yeah I have to do it myself, but that gets me more involved in my C8. (Delivered March 2021, at MSRP).

  6. I got a Z51 spoiler, have taken off the rear bumper twice, by myself, in the garage. Once to remove it for a few weeks,
then to put it back on. I like the look both ways, my friends love the high spoiler, and am thinking about adding one.
They are available and easy to put on. Because mine came with Z51 spoiler the holes are already drilled, so pretty easy swap.
With the right tools, the car is easy to work on.

  7. And the beat goes on. Inadequate sourcing.

  8. My Z8 arrived 2 days ago. I was excited after waiting14 mths, only to be told my spoiler wasn’t in yet. The most frustrating part is, the dealership has no idea when it will arrive. I did get my car for 72K though, I see them reselling for up to 130K already!
