Last November, GM Authority exclusively reported that General Motors will launch the Chevy Tahoe in early 2022 in South Korea. Now, almost two months later, the automaker has officially introduced the 2022 Chevy Tahoe in the Asian country as part of its future growth strategy for the local subsidiary, which includes expanding the portfolio of vehicles imported from the United States.
GM Korea has just announced configuration and pricing details for the new 2022 Chevy Tahoe for the South Korean market, immediately kicking off orders for the popular full-size SUV at dealerships in the country. Notably, this is the first time the Tahoe has been officially marketed in Korea, where it comes to bolster Chevrolet‘s portfolio as the brand’s largest and most iconic utility vehicle.
“The Tahoe is Chevrolet’s flagship SUV and the best choice for a high-end lifestyle experience in a car,” said President and CEO of GM Korea, Kaher Kazem, in a press release. “The brand’s portfolio will become more robust with a total of six models ranging from small to extra-large, such as Blazer, Traverse, and Colorado, and will be able to satisfy the diverse personalities and needs of Korean customers,” he added.
The 2022 Chevy Tahoe will notably arrive in South Korea with a unique and exclusive configuration based on the range-topping High Country trim level. As such, the Korean-market Tahoe is a fully equipped seven-seater model, with two power-release captain’s chairs in the second row and a three-passenger power-folding seat in the third row.
Mechanically, the powertrain of the sole 2022 Chevy Tahoe variant launching in Korea is made up of the 6.2L L87 V8 engine with 426 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, working in conjunction with GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission. The flagship SUV’s mechanical offering is complemented by a four-wheel drive system and adaptive air suspension.
The 2022 Chevy Tahoe is now available for to order in South Korea and will officially arrive in dealerships sometime next month. In addition to including advanced technological and safety equipment, South Korean customers will be able to choose the 2022 Tahoe with a special appearance package called Dark Knight. These are the starting prices of the two available versions of the model in the Asian country:
- 2022 Tahoe High Country: 92,530,000 KRW (about $78,190 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2022 Tahoe Dark Knight: 93,630,000 KRW (about $79,120 USD)

It’s kind of hard for me to believe that too many Koreans would want to shell out money for huge, expensive, American made vehicles.
I expect that they will sell a handful of them, at most.
Nate is right. If it was a 3.0 diesel model, it might have sold a little more. The models we are looking forward to in Korea are Equinox ev and Blazer ev. Many Koreans are looking forward to them.
Think they should get there American market filled with all the back ordered Tahoe and Yukon than worry about shipping abroad! I’m sure they will give Marty an award for something again👎👎!
GM has more than 4,000 Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/XL/Escalade on hand or more than Sequoia’s than Toyota can push out annually.
In the Korean market, diesel is a much smarter choice. If GM put the premier Duramax 3.0 diesel one step lower than the too expensive high-country trim and release it at a price of about 70,000 ~ 72,000 dollars, GM can expect quite high sales.

Because In Korea, diesel is cheaper than gasoline per gallon, and the bigger the displacement, the higher the tax, so 3.0 diesel is much cheaper than 6.2 gasoline.
