All cars are required by NHTSA to have forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking after September 2022
That’s gonna cause problems when the Mostly Peaceful Protesters surround you and start demanding reparations.
Why and how come dealerships are selling new trucks for more than MSRP? No difference in price of 2021 and 2022 price. How can they do this. They need to be called out on this. Greed. How come people buy these trucks and not know they are being taken to the cleaners.
That is why it is called manufacturer’s “suggested” retail price. It’s called supply and demand.
It’s called greed, short sightedness, unetical business, etc… . And making sure they don’t get repeat costumers.
I am old enough to see Karma come back to these gougers… why buy from them, they get your money and then they dissapear when you need help from them….
.. $ $ $ ..
We all live in a real WORLD ECONOMY ,
. . . If a Dealer , sells below COST, it’s OK !
.. if a Grocer, sells below cost, ( oranges & Apples ), it’s , still, OK !
Great… more electronic stuff to break. Whatever happened to people actually knowing how to drive?
Most of that stuff is pretty reliable. But, I want to know if a lot of that stuff has the ability to be overridden, or turned off. Someone above brought out a very good point about collision avoidance and rioters. In other cases I just don’t want that stuff turned on in the first place.
I agree with you for the most part. Those features can be turned off, I have all of them on my 2020 AT4 but there is one feature that I believe all vehicles should have & that is the blind spot indicator. I always attached the small add on mirrors to my vehicles to cover the blind spot. Being a motorcycle rider for over 50 yrs & still riding,I look for that indicator on peoples mirrors when I am pulling up to pass them. Passing a vehicle is probably the most dangerous maneuver when riding. I can’t tell you how many times over the years that I have had to react to a driver moving over in front of me when you are traveling at highway speeds.
I do not agree with that and I ride. That is a false sense of security you imbed in peoples mind with warning like that. I don’t fully trust them. From our RAV4 to a few Denali’s they have not worked plenty of times for stints, and you keep putting that stuff on people will forget to look and trust that thus making it less safe at times. I always look, never trust them and I don’t think something like that should be standard. Automatic braking isn’t something you use and indicate everyday so there is no trust, just an it comes on if you cross a line sort of this where as the blind spot is an every day tool that can enforce bad habits.
I never said I trusted them, what I did say was “I look for that indicator on people’s mirrors when I am pulling up to pass them”; that & your usual passing procedure should still be used. The vehicle driver should still have to look in their mirror & you don’t see what is in the blind spot & the warning light has them taking a 2nd look. I don’t use the auto braking myself. The blind spot indicator is still a good device, which can be turned off by the driver. I don’t know where or what or how much you ride but riders need all the safety devices available to have a safe run. I think that driver side windows that are so darkly tinted that you cannot see the drivers face is one of the most dangerous accessories out there. I like to see the drivers face especially when they are at stop signs & you dont know what they are going to do. Stay safe.
I used to ride myself, until a workplace injury wrecked my back to the point where I need a cane to get around. I’ve seen plenty of idiots completely ignore that BSI and change lanes oblivious to their surroundings. There was a reason why I passed people as aggressively as I did: The safest place for me on two wheels was miles ahead of everyone else. Boy do I miss my Magna and my Blackbird.
Every car I’ve driven with aeb overrides the emergency braking when you hit the gas. Similar to how the lane keep assist stops assisting the moment you steer against it. May be a bad thing from a pedal confusion stand point but it does allow an easy override without having to turn it off.
LONG reply..
Because we sheeple are protected from ourselves by Big Brother. the new generations expect for the goverment to protect them instead of taking responsibilty for their own actions.
This could be due to us bringing up our kids as victims, crybabies, etc.
Sheeple do this. they all walk in line, then the others follow headed to a cliff, One walks down the cliff and falls to their death. The rest follow, then the ones that survive from landing on other dead sheep take everyone to court for their own stupidity…
SUE. The owner of the property for not posting large signs of the danger of following other sheeple and not posting an agent to make sure that they follow directions… no matter that this place is 500 miles from any humans.
SUE. The grower of the rocks they stumbled on for also not posting danger signs…. Maybe they can sue the universe,
SUE. the survivors for falling on top of the other dead sheeple thereby causing the mental stress aand PTSD from thinking how the dead ones where cushions.
So… the lesson is… WE are at fault for bringing up crybabies, irresponsible sheep, and to never take responsibility for their own actions……
See if this has ever played among sheeple you know…..
Daddy sheeple says…. opps someone got my daughter pregnant, she never goes out with any boy sheep….. Talks to hormonal girl sheep. OH… Sweetie.. you didn’t take your pill….. (while diggin her toe on the floor and giving googoo eyes to daddy sheep) she says..It’s not my fault… johnnie brother sheep must of moved them an inch away from where they are supposed to be and I spent 3 seconds looking for them. so i left without taking it and I accidentally bumped into a young male sheep and I don’t know what happened..
Lets think about $$$$ saved. My 2020LTZ came with all this new equipment. I didn’t think a whole lot about it until my insurance agent said we were going to save close to 1500.00 dollars because of all this new equipment. And after 2 years now i can tell all of you and it really does work great. Personally i don’t want to know if there is a way to turn it off it works and has even helped me in braking a time or to that i was not looking at.
Insurance in your area must be high as hell.
I pay $1100 a year for 3 vehicles with full coverage and no “advanced safety equipment”
Noticed that “enhanced automatic emergency braking” only comes on the Denalis. IIRC this is GM speak for radar based instead of camera based, and means that yet again adaptive cruise will only be on the Denali models. Come on GM.
That’s not correct. Adaptive cruise control is available on SLT and above from 2020. The ACC system is camera based, not radar. Super Cruise requires radar, not standard ACC.
“New Tech Phobia” and I’m such a good driver I don’t need all this safety stuff. These two comments run rampant on auto forums……
It’s fine, but much like running a chainsaw with a kickback brake, if your relying on the machine to protect you, you might be disappointed. All the gadgets can only go so far. I know it’s a bad word now but personal responsibility can serve you well.
Some of us grew up in the 90s, and learned to drive vehicles from the 70s and 80s. ABS was in its infancy and most vehicles came with 3 pedals on the floor. We had to LEARN how to parallel park the old fashioned way.
While I’m a big fan of tech making more power in a smaller package that doesn’t suck a 25 gallon tank dry in 100 miles, packing these “safety features” in has made the average motorist beyond moronic. Just think about how stupid humanity has become since the advent of the Smartphone.
I agree with Sierra, blind spot warning should be included on every vehicle. Unfortunately gm makes u step up to another level of safety features to get it. Nickel dime the consumer.
The extra safety equipment is fine – my driving has deteriorated as I got older. But in the past a lot of the electronics was stuffed into the center console and thus was not available in the 60/40 “bench” seat. Is that still the case or is the bench available on lower trim models?
In current models buckets are only available in SLT trims and above,I would think that would be the same going forward.
If mirrors are adjusted properly you don’t need a Blindspot indicator a rearview mirror is just that to look at the rear of the vehicle a side view mirror is just that to look at the side of the vehicle adjusted properly you don’t need this. Without tying up too much space here you can go right online and it will carefully tell you how to properly adjust your rear view mirror and your side view mirrors
Stephen-These drivers aids are all to save life. These very same comments and the kicking and screaming taken place over driver aids were the same thing that happened with energy absorbing bumpers, seatbelts, ABS. Thank goodness backup cameras are now mandated-they will save countless children from being backed over.
