The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will come standard with power door locks and power windows across all trim levels, GM Authority can confirm.
Just like the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will feature standard power door locks and windows on every available trim level, from the entry-level Pro (renamed from Sierra for the pre-refreshed 2022 Sierra Limited) to the range-topping Denali Ultimate. It will also come with standard keyless entry across all trims.
The pre-refresh GMC Sierra 1500 came standard with manual door locks and manual windows on the base Sierra/Pro Regular Cab only. Buyers of this work truck grade could easily add power door locks and windows to the vehicle with the optional Convenience Package (RPO code PCI). In addition to power doors locks and windows, the Convenience Package also added remote keyless entry, cruise control, a rear window defogger, EZ lift power lock and release tailgate, tinted window glass, LED cargo bed lighting and outside heated power-adjustable mirrors.
As we reported earlier this week, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will also come standard with the active safety content that was previously part of option packages. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam headlights, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Buckle to Drive. Like the power door locks and windows, these features will be standard on all Sierra trim levels including the entry-level Pro work truck.
The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces new exterior styling and a redesigned interior to the full-size pickup. It also introduces the first Sierra Denali Ultimate, the automaker’s most luxurious truck yet, along with the first Sierra AT4X, which elevates the brand’s off-road-capable Sierra AT4 with Multimatic DSSV dampers, off-road tires and other enhancements. Powertrain options include the turbocharged 2.7L L3B I-4, naturally aspirated 5.3L L84 V8, naturally aspirated 6.2L L87 V8 and Duramax turbodiesel 3.0L LM2 I-6.
Production of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will take place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana. It will also eventually enter production at GM’s newly renovated pickup plant in southern Ontario, Oshawa Assembly, which recently began production of the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD as well.
