Refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Order Books Are Now Open

The fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 officially debuted in September, introducing a revised exterior, an all-new interior, a wealth of cutting-edge technology, and the addition of the new Chevy Silverado ZR2 trim level whose starting price has just been exclusively revealed by GM Authority. Now, we’ve learned from sources close to the matter that order books for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 are now open.

Order books for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 officially opened today, December 16th. Meanwhile, General Motors stopped taking order for the pre-refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited on December 9th. Check out the previous GM Authority coverage for a complete breakdown of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 launch timeline.

In addition to revised exterior styling highlighted by a new front fascia, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 also features a brand-new cabin space for LT trim levels and above. Highlights of the new interior include a 13.4-inch diagonal color touchscreen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster, as well as built-in features like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also included. Check out a complete overview of the redesigned interior with the exclusive GM Authority cabin tour video.

As for the specs, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is offered with four engine options, starting with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which now produces 20 percent more torque for a maximum of 420 pound-feet. The refreshed Silverado is also offered with the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, as well as the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax.

Providing the underpinnings is the GM T1 platform. The initial units of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 are set to arrive in dealers in Q1 of 2022. Production will take place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico and GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, as well as the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. awesome!
hopefully this means the configurator goes live shortly.

    1. GM Authority previously announced that the Configurator would go live January 5th, 2022.

      Reply
      1. Yes but that was with pricing. Their original timeline had the configurator going live 12/15 in without pricing but that didn’t happen yesterday it three the timeline off a bit

  5. Just ordered my Sierra elevation today with the duramax and the new elevation premium package. No idea on the pricing but hopefully it’ll be below 60K msrp.

    1. Did you reserve a sierra online? I haven’t heard anything yet.

      1. I went to my dealer and ordered. They said they couldn’t at first but I got them to double check and sure enough they could

  6. My dealer called me monday, let me know that ky 2022 ltd wouldn t be built and would call me back when it would be possible to configure a 2022 updated version. He called me back yesterday. @hunter: check older pages here, 2022 pricing was published already. In my case it should +800$ more than the 2022 ltd version (for the same setup).

    Reply
    1. Yeah I’m not too worried on it but the elevation premium package is a completely new package that seems to make the elevation a slightly less equipped slt instead of a well equipped sle and that’s where majority of my concern is coming from

  8. Got my order accepted 12/16 for a Duramax High County refresh w/ max trailer Love my Dealer 😁

    Reply
    1. Aren’t all 2022 refreshed Silverado automatically having a maximum towing capacity of 13,000 lbs? Or that w/max is that an option? thanks

      Reply
      1. The tow rating is not standard across the line, it depends on engine, cab, bed length, 2wd/4wd and rear end gear.

        Reply
        1. Correct. But Richard P. mentioned he ordered a Duramax High Country, just like I did. My sales representative tried to add to w/max trailering option to the updated vehicle and the system rejected it / I had to switch to a V8 to have it. So I assume the updated Silverado, equipped with the diesel engine can tow 13,000 standard, no need to add any option (?). So either my sales representative made a mistake or Richard got the engine switched to a V8.

          1. The dealership I have been working with found a bug in the system that was preventing the NHT max tow being added to the LM2. Should be fixed shortly. You need NHT on the LM2 to get the updated 13,xxx lb rating.

  11. My dealership just called me to take my order. I reserved a regular denali (not the ultimate). I completed the order (including super cruise), and they called me back 5 minutes later stating that super cruise is currently only available to order with the ultimate. Did anyone else experience this?

    Reply
  12. FYI, from a chevy dealer:

Super cruise is not available to order, it’s “late availability” until further notice.

140 ZR2 allocations were handed out nationwide, I did not receive one of them.

A whole host of options were restricted, including the L84 5.3L, L87 6.2L, and LM2 diesel engines. I received two L84 allocations and one LM2, which has been filled by a customer order.

Anyone who wants to have one of my two L84 allocations or more information can feel free to email me before Tuesday at cole(dot)gagliano(at)genesischevy.com. Start of regular production is 2/7/22, these will be in the first batch. We sell at MSRP or GM Employee/Supplier.

  13. I can’t believe a zr2 costs more than a raptor. They’re really limiting their customer base and not bringing in new ones.

    Reply
  14. An LT trail boss ltd starts out at 11k less than a zr2. I really can’t justify spending the extra money for mostly the same truck. Unreal.

  15. Went to the dealer to see the ordering options for a Silverado ZR2. Cherry Red Tintcoat is not an option. Embarrassed to say, but that was a deal breaker for me. I have been picturing it in that color since the reveal because I love the Trail Boss in that color. FYI: Iridescent Pearl Tricoat is also not an option.

    Reply
    1. I’m probably going to order Iridescent Pearl Tricoat as I really don’t like any of the other colors,I wish they would offer the same colors as Tahoe and Suburban

  16. The fleet guy at AutoNation Chevy Gilbert, AZ says he knows nothing about a new Silverado and that it’s definitely not available to order. Chevy customer service is confirming there is no order information available yet for the updated 2022 and that the LTD edition is what is still being built.

    Reply
    1. Lol that is so laughable and typical. I’m an inventory manager at my Chevrolet store, I can confirm that order books are open for the truck and I placed 3 orders last week for them. Production starts February 7th I believe, and LTD’s will be built until then, but no further orders for LTD’s will be going in and all future Silverado orders after December 16th will be the 2022 MCE.

  18. I was told that some of the colors changed. Deleted the Satin Steel Metallic. Added Dark Ash and Sand Stone. Does anyone know where I can look to see these trucks with the new colors. My local dealer only has paint chips.

    Reply
    1. Not sure about the Dark Ash, but if you can find a dealer with a Colorado in Sand Dune Metallic, that is the same as Sand Stone.

Edit: I think the color is “Sand Dune” in both the Colorado and the Silverado — I ordered a LT Trail Boss in that color.
