New 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 Launches In Colombia

One year after the official arrival of the refreshed Chevy Colorado in Colombia at the end of 2020, General Motors has just introduced the 2022 model year of the midsize pickup in the international market in the South American country. The biggest news is the 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71, the new off-road variant hitting the Colombian market a few weeks after its world debut in Brazil as the S10 Z71.
The new 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 arrives in Colombia to expand the nameplate’s trim level lineup in that country, positioned right in the middle of the range above the LS and LT trim levels, but below the more equipped LTZ and High Country variants. As such, the 2022 Colorado Z71 offers a sporty look with unique features and is geared toward more adventurous customers.
“The Colorado Z71 comes at a time when people are discovering different ways of working and having fun. Interest in road trips, adventure sports and greater contact with nature is growing,” said Commercial Director of GM Colombia, Raúl Mier, in a statement. “And to explore this off-road universe, there is nothing better than a robust, comfortable, safe pickup truck with a high level of equipment and connectivity, which at the same time offers a unique and different design like the Z71,” I added.
Notably, Colombia becomes the third country in South America to receive the new Z71 variant of Chevrolet’s midsize pickup after Brazil and Paraguay, where the vehicle is marketed as the Chevy S10. The 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 for the Colombian market maintains exactly the same look as the S10 Z71, with a package of 20 exclusive design and feature elements that accentuate its off-road capabilities.
Like the rest of the pickup’s trim levels sold in the country, the new 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 is offered in Colombia with the Duramax turbo-diesel 2.8L I-4 XLD28 engine that develops class-leading 197 horsepower and with 369 pound-feet of torque. In this variant, the engine is exclusively coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission and the “shift on the fly” 4×4 system.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 will go on sale in Colombia next week, with an extensive list of safety and technology features as well as the exclusive accessory package as standard. With the new Z71 version, the Colorado now has seven distinctive versions that increase its competitiveness in the Colombian market. The suggested price of the 2022 Colorado Z71 in the country is 152,990,000 COP, about $38,800 USD at the current exchange rate.
