Here’s The Gift GM Sent To 2022 Cadillac Blackwing Sedan Owners

The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing offer an enticing combination of track-worthy performance and Caddy-style luxury, but for the first 500 Cadillac Blackwing sedan customers, these four-doors also include a special gift.

Earlier this year, prior to the debut of the new Cadillac Blackwing sedans, GM Authority exclusively reported that the first 250 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing customers and the first 250 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing customers would receive a unique gift with their vehicle reservations. The gift was offered for reservations for the Collector’s Edition versions of the two vehicles, which also featured one of the first serial numbers, unique plaques attached to the vehicles, a certificate of authenticity, and a driving session at the Cadillac V-Performance Academy at the Spring Mountain Resort in Nevada.

At the time, it was unclear exactly what the special gift would be. Now, we know that the gift in question is a design sketch of the specific Cadillac Blackwing model purchased:

The gift is similar to that sent to Cadillac CT6-V buyers, as GM Authority covered previously.

To note, the official name of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is V-Series Blackwing.

As a reminder, the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed exclusively to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is equipped with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, also mating to either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. Both vehicles ride on the GM Alpha 2 platform, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan.

  1. I have received 1 of these and your pictures do not show the details or give it justice. The artists prints are numbered and it looks like a 3 dimensional shadow box , it’s very nicely done .

  2. Big deal, you spent how much for the car, it’s only a Cadillac with Chevy power. How about a rebate on the overpriced Caddy.

    1. You mean it’s a Cadillac with a high performance Chevy engine that’s handbuilt with a manual as standard. This caddy was able to beat a BMW m5cs on the Laguna seca racetrack with only a manual. So a high performance manual car cheaper than it’s rivals and can even outmatch a $140,000 BMW is not a big deal?

      1. Mohammad Wadud: Parts costs on the Caddy are nowhere near as stratospheric as on a BMW.

    2. Cadillac built a special engine for the Blackwing , Why are they using a Chevy engine?

      1. I believe that the Blackwing engine won’t fit in the Alpha chassis. It’s a quad cam DOHC motor so it’s massive similar to Ford’s Coyote. The LT is much much narrower.

      2. Bill: Cost. The Chevrolet engine is less expensive. It’s a matter of cost accounting and profit margin.

  3. I liked what GM did for the early C8 buyers – a scale model of the car with the color ordered mounted on a magnetic platform with VIN on one side. Classy gift.

      1. I live in a large city, and I hate to feed a stereotype, but there are so many BMWs around that they are like “Chevy” to me. They aren’t distinctive any more. Now, when I see a sharp looking Caddy, it makes me smile… especially if it’s a hi-po model. Have a Cadillac day!

        1. Funny thing about stereotypes: they usually don’t just appear out of thin air

Truth hurts sometimes; perhaps stereotypes should be cause for introspection rather than immediate cries of injustice.

Being that this IS the USA, it would seem natural to want (if not so far as to expect) to see more American cars on the road instead of seas of imports which makes anyone with a love of country – let alone an innate sense of survival – wonder what the He!! is wrong with one’s “fellow” Americans…

Should be engraved on a large tall thick Granite wall, with night lighting, and placed in the heart of Washington DC.

  5. Anthony: You are a very savvy fellow.

BMW popularity is due to popular cult group preference just like Apple I phones, tattoos, cigarette smoking, designer jeans, organic foods, Trader Joe’s markets, lite beers, McDonald’s, as a few examples.

Surface image and value. Minimal deep depth values. Brand developed good will and trade name equals business / marketing success. From basic marketing 101.

  6. Psychoacoustics describes how our minds respond to vibrations. Modern generic BMWs and other similar German cars have overly stiff suspensions to get great handling numbers for magazine reviews. This results in a higher natural frequency that causes a driver to become “hyped up”, like when drinking lots of coffee. Young lawyers, marketers, and financiers in big cities need to be charged to do their jobs. That’s why they buy the latest “BMWs” when they get their bonus checks, instead of softer riding Cadillacs. The CEO of their company drives the Caddy (Blackwing of course).

  7. Anthony: Very interesting analysis. Your comment is plausible. However at play is cult culture, and being in the acceptable style pack. Rememer when VW bugs and microbuses were huge during the late sixties with the counterculture – Woodstock type crowd? The Ford Mustang back then was huge with the young collegiate crowd. It’s all about being comfortable with yourself in the image nitch / style you select and style yourself accordingly and being an accepted part of the group you seek to fit into.

It’s from fashions, to hardgoods, to dining choices to residence type/style.

Just look at the shoppers at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods compared to shoppers at Walmart grocery stores.
