General Motors unveiled a brand-new fifth-generation for the Cadillac Escalade nameplate with the 2021 model year, introducing a new exterior design, a new cabin, cutting-edge tech for comfort and convenience, and a new diesel engine option. Meanwhile, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade follows with a few small changes and updates. Now, GM Authority is detailing how to get the latest fifth-generation Escalade with a light headliner.
As the case may be, some luxury vehicle owners prefer a lighter headliner over a black headliner. However, in order to get a light headliner in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade and 2022 Cadillac Escalade, customers must select a specific interior colorway option.
To get a light headliner in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade and 2022 Cadillac Escalade, customers must select the Whisper Beige with Gideon accents interior colorway (RPO code H0D). In addition to a light headliner, this option also includes full leather seats with semi-aniline leather seating surfaces and mini-chevron perforated inserts, as well as Linear Marquetry wood trim.
To note, the Whisper Beige with Gideon accents interior colorway is only available for the two Platinum models, namely the Premium luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum.
Note that this applies specifically to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade and 2022 Cadillac Escalade, and may not be applicable to future models years of the Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV.
As a reminder, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and 2021 Cadillac Escalade are available with two engine options, namely the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engine connect to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while under the skin, we find the GM T1 platform and an independent rear suspension. Production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Arlington, Texas.

I love GM authority. However the way GM has handled this chip shortage is criminal. I want to order a CT4 V Blackwing my dealer tells me I won’t ever get it . What a joke. GM is no longer in the car business as far as I concerned.
The 2022 Escalade is the best looking interior the Cadillac designers has come up in a very long time. Back in the 60’s-70’s time period, interior dashes used about 2/3’d of the width of the dash board where it ended near the glove box. Then it all changed to three 1/3’s sections, driver, center stack, glove box. I’m sure airbags played a role.
It would be nice if this interior could be used in the GMC Denali. The refresh 2022 PU interiors is a great improvement and GM is going with the wide dash layouts again. They just need more colors. Dark ash and black is just too boring and too hot for the sunbelt states.

This just infuriates me, and I won’t be in the car market for years to come (hopefully). How difficult or expensive would more choices be on a nearly $100k car? Why put dark wood against black? And the cheaper Cadillacs have all black dashes and carpet. I don’t want to sit in an oven.
