A dramatic Christmas Day crash in Brazil between an out-of-control Chevy Chevette and a Chevy Camaro Convertible was captured on a local pizzeria’s security cameras and is now being circulated online.
According to the original uploader of this rather ridiculous clip, which was filmed in Ribeirão das Neves in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state, the driver of the brown Chevy Chevette lost consciousness while they were behind the wheel, causing their foot to depress the gas. The out-of-control vehicle went on to hit five cars before continuing down the street, flying off an embankment and crashing down onto the roof of a red fifth-generation Chevy Camaro Convertible that was travelling on a perpendicular street.
This accident could have very easily been fatal for the Camaro Convertible driver – especially as an impact like this is essentially the worst-case scenario for a soft-top convertible car. Thankfully the driver was only taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, however being hospitalized with serious injuries and having your Chevy Camaro Convertible totalled is not how anyone wants their Christmas Day to end. We wish them a speedy recovery.
The Chevy Chevette driver admitted to the local police he had just previously drunk “two shots of cognac,” before getting behind the wheel that day. We imagine he had quite a bit more than two shots, seeing as he suddenly passed out while he was behind the wheel, but we’re sure the police were able to determine just how drunk he was with a breathalyzer test. The driver of the Chevette was also taken to the hospital, the video description indicates.

Geez! Thankfully nobody died. Camaro driver was lucky. Surprised there are chevettes on road. Time for a guard rail at that intersection.
Who ever was on that motorcycle was lucky as well. Thankfully all were relatively okay, given the incident, you’d never expect it seeing the footage,
He drove it happy.
That was not a Chevy Chevette…That was a Chevy Vega!!! Hahahahahaha
That’s actually a Chevette in the video. They got a notchback in Brazil.
And I don’t know why you’re replying to me, but I was referencing the late 70s Chevette ad.
Wrong…. 76 chevette is not that long….vega…..
You’re misunderstanding again. I didn’t even say this was a 1976.
Go look up a Brazilian Chevette. They made them into the 90s.
That car is the Vega platform….I can call a duck a shark…It is still a duck….. The wheel base to to long to be a Chevette… Are you really apart of “GM Auth”? Hahahahahaha
I originally just wanted you to know that you replied to me instead of the article.
Now you’re talking about ducks and sharks, probably because it’s incredibly obvious that you were wrong.
Perhaps if you respond again and put even more hahaha’s in the response, you’ll start sounding right somehow.
Patrick all you have to do is search “Chevrolet Chevette Brazil” and you’ll see that you’re wrong. I have 2 American Chevettes myself and I’ve seen plenty of notchbacks and even wagons thru the years as well.
Agree, not familiar with Brazilian Chevys but had a Chevette and a Monza in auto shop class in high school. Kinda has that Monza look too.
You’re partially correct… that car is NOT an American Chevette, but IS a Brazilian Chevette. Even in today’s markets, GM products in Brazil and other South American/Central American countries get similar vehicles to ours, but they have slightly different looks, dimensions, and names. Just like the Australian Colorado too… sure, it has the same name, but you can’t buy accessories from the Australian Colorado to fit the American Colorado. Different dimensions and body styles. I’d say it’s a duck in the video.
Looks like the Camaro bolted! No insurance or stolen for sure.
