Chevy Camaro 2.0L Engine Gets Output Boost From European Tuner McChip-DKR

German engine tuning company McChip-DKR has released a new engine map for the 2.0L turbocharged LTG engine found in the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro.

McChip-DKR’s new Stage 1 engine map for the 2.0L turbo Chevy Camaro reflashes the vehicle’s factory engine control unit to boost output by an estimated 30 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque, giving the sports coupe a total of 305 horsepower and 332 pound-feet. A stock 2.0L turbo Chevy Camaro, for reference, produces 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This engine tune also raises the top speed of the vehicle from 149 mph (240 km/h) to 156 mph (252 km/h).

This aftermarket engine map is compatible with 2016 and up Chevy Camaro models equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged LTG four-cylinder engine and either the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. This software can also be installed in both the hardtop coupe and soft-top convertible Chevy Camaro models.

McChip released photos of its four-cylinder Chevy Camaro development vehicle on the dyno this week, which appears to be a post-refresh model equipped with an aftermarket Chevy Camaro ZL1-style front fascia, aftermarket alloy wheels and a gloss black-painted factory rear spoiler.

McChip-DKR also has a Stage 1 engine map available for the Chevy Camaro LT1 and SS equipped with the 6.2L LT1 V8 engine, which bumps output from 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque to 475 horsepower and 468 pound-feet. Both of the company’s engine tunes for the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro start at €999.00, which is equivalent to $1,129.55 at the current exchange rate.

GM applied a number of minor cosmetic changes to the Chevy Camaro for the 2022 model year. This includes the deletion of the LT 1LE Track Performance Package and expanded availability for the Wild Cherry Design Package, which is now simply referred to as the Design Package since it is available with the two new color options, Vivid Orange and Rapid Blue. Additionally, a new Design Package 3 is joining the lineup while the pre-existing Design Package 2 becomes available on 1LT, LT1, and 1SS models.

Production of the 2022 Chevy Camaro began at the GM Lansing Grand River plant on Monday, October 4th.

  • Trifecta has offered a tune for several years now for this car that costs considerably less and makes more power. No mention in this article whether the auto trans calibration is changed, but it is with the Trifecta. McChip-DKR's website is in German, but I didn't see anything referencing transmission calibration from what I could understand.

  • My 2014 Malibu LTZ 2.0 Turbo, (detuned to 257 bhp 292 ft lbs of tq ), I had it tuned in 2016 for $375.00 and raised the output to 310 bhp and 330 ft lbs of tq. A real sleeper... Had the shifts set a tad quicker. The tune raised the mpg about 1-2 miles as well. Much quicker throttle response! No more torque management so there wasn't any slow response before 50 mph, all gone...that alone shaved off lots of lag in the throttle. First step, reset the ECU to 272bhp and 292 ft lbs of tq and then tune for more. Different car when it was done. There are other hp mods that can raise the bhp but the biggest bang is definitely an HP tune.

    Also, for the v8's, no comparison for an HP Tuner to retune your v8. Most can ship you a pre-tuned ECU while your original gets retuned and shipped back to you, or do it remotely while you drive, and by going to a tuner at a dyno shop.
    Either way, much better results than a plug-n-play chip with limited tune features.

    As for cost, you get what you pay for here...

  • If they want the number Number 2.0 for the displacment of a muscle, I would greatly appreciate the unit galllons :-) to be used.
