The 2023 Corvette Z06 has been spotted shooting a new video at a racetrack with a Porsche Cayenne camera vehicle in tow.
This short clip shows a 2023 Corvette Z06 driving at Barber Motorsports Park in Mobile, Alabama, which is a regular stop on the NTT IndyCar Series calendar. Behind the Z06 is a matte-black painted Porsche Cayenne Turbo camera vehicle – a popular choice in the world of filmmaking thanks to its combination of utility and performance.
It seems likely Chevy was at Barber filming a new commercial or some type of marketing material for the 2023 Corvette Z06 ahead of its launch next year. It doesn’t seem likely that any other entity apart from Chevy would be filming the Z06 at this time, as full series production will not begin until next summer.
This Corvette Z06 is finished in the Accelerate Yellow exterior color and features the available Z07 Performance Package, as well. The Z07 pack includes larger, carbon-ceramic brakes, stickier Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP rubber, FE7 suspension with specially tuned Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 dampers, and available carbon fiber wheels. All Z07-equipped models also receive a full carbon fiber aerodynamics package with a larger front splitter, front-corner dive planes, a rear wing and an underbody strake.
Power in the Corvette Z06, as a reminder, comes from a naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It will be built alongside the standard 2023 Corvette Stingray at the GM Bowling Green Assembly facility in Kentucky. Production of the 2023 Corvette will begin on Monday, May 9th, 2022, as GM Authority reported previously, however it’s currently unclear if this date will mark the start of production for the Corvette Stingray or Corvette Z06.

What was the reason the Porsche Cayenne was used to help shoot the Z06 on the track? For occasional high speed video shoot?
The camera vehicle has to be reasonably fast and powerful to keep up with sports cars and movie chase scenes, not to mention the added weight and drag of the camera rig and the power needed to run everything. You also want it to be relatively low-profile and quiet so it doesn’t show up in the shoots itself.
They obviously didn’t buy and convert the car just for one shoot, they hired a company that owns and operates the car, and they ultimately come from this one company in Poland who does the conversions.
Yeah, what’d you think they’d do? Use a GM as the chase vehicle?? Thing would snap a control arm in the first corner.
FYI to the editors – Barber Motorsports Park isn’t anywhere near Mobile. It’s about 270 miles away in Leeds, near Birmingham.
It seems to me that this car photo shoot ad could be jointly used and funded by both gm and Porsche. The gm share holders should be delighted that the gm Advertising Team is saving money.
Why would Porsche help pay for a Corvette video. When the commercial is completed, the Cayenne won’t be visible. Although, it says a lot about the capabilities of Porsche SUVs.
BTW, a similar Porsche Cayenne SUV was used in the filming of the latest James Bond movie.
