2022 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss Custom Loses Double Cab Configuration

The pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited’s Custom Trail Boss trim level isn’t available to order in Double Cab configuration, and the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss won’t be offered in Double Cab guise either.
The pre-refresh 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss was available to order in Double Cab configuration, as well as in Crew Cab Short Bed and Crew Cab Standard Bed configurations. Going forward, though, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss will drop the available Double Cab configuration, leaving only the Crew Cab Short Bed and Crew Cab Standard Bed variants – as is the case with the Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss trim level.

Prices for the 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss Double Cab started at $43,395 including the destination freight charge for models equipped with the naturally aspirated 4.3L LV3 V6 gasoline engine. The 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss Double Cab was also available to order with the naturally aspirated 5.3L L84 V8 and 6.2L L87 V8 gasoline engines, with prices starting at $44,740 and $45,990, respectively.
Prices for the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss will start at $46,895 for a Crew Cab Short Bed model equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. The Custom Trail Boss trim level is also available to order with the 6.2L L87 V8 gasoline engine for 2022, with prices starting at $50,785. The naturally aspirated 4.3L LV3 V6 gasoline engine has been dropped from the Silverado’s engine lineup for the refreshed 2022 model year and is thus no longer available to order with the Custom Trail Boss or any other trim levels.
Outside, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 features revised styling, while the interior space and cabin layout was completely overhauled for LT trim levels and above, incorporating up to four separate display screens. The truck also features revised exterior styling and introduces a new off-road-ready ZR2 trim level.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 continues to ride on the GM T1 platform, with production set to take place at the GM Fort Wayne factory in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

With truck prices spiking you would think GM would be tracking on some lower priced models to include a regular cab. I guess $60k truck or off you go to little truck for you.

That stinks. Ill be an empty nester next year and want to go the double cab route.
I agree with JWL and John GM has gone from making trucks for everyone to making grocery getters with a short box. I currently have an extended cab GMC Sierra and I’ve been absolutely impressed with it from day one. To think GM are willing to cut out a whole segment of potential buyers shows their arrogance and their need for greed. I personally will spend my retirement years driving another brand of vehicle that makes a double cab and leave GM,buying a vehicle I want not what they tell me is the only option.
Double cabs are great. I’ve only had them and as long as you aren’t constantly carrying people around in the back seat they are fine. I’ve never had complaints when someone does ride back there either.
Big difference in truck beds between the short and standard boxes makes it 100% worthwhile. I’ve paid for delivery once since I bought a standard box.
So in other words, the Trail Boss will no longer be available in a TRUCK configuration. SUV cab only. Ridiculous. Lifelong Silverado/Sierra loyalist, a couple dozen, but between the awful refresh and now this,

You know you can’t get a Tremor or a Raptor in SuperCab just CrewCab only…..
Love my double cab LT. room in the back seats is just fine. My neighbor has a Tremor it’s kinda small inside.
The availability chart shows the LTZ as being available now with a double cab. I hope this is correct as I have a 2014 LT double cab, which is perfect for me, more than enough room, and in my opinion, the truck looks nicer. Better balanced with the double cab. I intend to move up to a new refreshed 2022 LTZ, and sure hope the double cab is available, but I bet it’s a typo.
I was surprised to see this as well! I agree the Double cab has the best proportions of them all. I had a loaded 2017 LTZ double and it was great. I wanted a 22 LTZ double, but not seeing it in the lineup for last year I started looking at the RST and convinced myself I could live with the few options not available compared to the LTZ, but with gm’s announcement of shipping their vehicles without heated/cooled seats (don’t think cooled is available on the RST anyways unless that’s changed for the refreshed 22, that was fine) and heated steering wheels only to be retrofitted at some later date….I’ve decided to order a high optioned F150 Lariat “supercab” (fords double cab) this coming February.. I’ll probably catch grief for that around here but oh well.

I was forced into ordering a crew cab because of this. Wanted DBL Cab TB Custom but because of this, the dealer had to swing me to the crew, which I agree is NOT a truck but an “open” SUV. Further, there was only about $5,000 difference now between the Custom crew and LT Crew so it looks like my wife got a new truck and I’m still looking.
