The fully refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 introduces several changes and updates over the pre-refresh 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited and 2021 model year. Among these changes is the inclusion of power door locks and power windows as standard equipment for all trim levels of the Light Duty pickup, including the base-model Work Truck (WT).
Previously, the base-model Chevy Silverado 1500 WT Regular Cab was equipped with manual door locks and manual crank windows. A power driver’s window with express up/down feature, power front passenger’s window with express down feature, and keyless entry with two key fobs were offered as part of the WT Convenience Package, tagged with RPO code PCV.
Further updates for the 2022-model-year refresh include a push button starter included as standard across the lineup, as GM Authority covered previously. What’s more, refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss models are now equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as standard, while refreshed Silverado Trail Boss Custom models are offered with the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine as an optional upgrade.
Outside, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 features revised styling, while the interior space and cabin layout was completely overhauled for LT trim levels and above. For a more complete breakdown of the changes implemented inside the cabin, check out the exclusive GM Authority cabin tour video.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is available with four engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is uprated with 20 percent more torque at 420 pound-feet, as well as the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. The 2.7L I4 L3B connects to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the three remaining engines connect to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 continues to ride on the GM T1 platform, with production set to take place at the GM Fort Wayne factory in Indiana, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Ugly grill, fix ASAP!
Stop looking in the mirror…done..
😉
Shots fired!!! 🤣
Right just stare into the cheap plastic grill.
Not going to happen, we’re stuck with that grill for a few more years, why can’t they just put the same grill on all the 1500s,. An LT grill would make this truck a whole lot more appealing!
Buy an LT grill and ebay the w/t one
Not that easy, the whole headlight assembly and running lights are different. Wish you could.
I guess the only thing you could do is pretty it up with some body color paint
No one is happier about this than me. I’ve been wanting GM to do this forever. I always buy base trucks, the simpler the better in my opinion. But they have been bundling more and more stuff into the convenience package, a bunch of stuff I don’t want just to get power windows. Except now it comes bundled with that awful new grill. Maybe it’ll look better in person. Regardless, great news.
Agreed.
I could care less about the grille though. I like my trucks ugly.
Maybe painting the cross bar under Chevrolet body color might help?
Maybe driving it backwards would fix it! UGLY and CHEAP!
Maybe GM will actually show us official pictures and information on the Silverado work trucks someday.
They want everyone to know you bought the cheapest heap on the lot.
The “cheapest heap” to you is a real truck to others.
Just say you are broke and be done with it.
Or buy a Denali and say you’ve got a mortgage sized payment you can barely afford.
Its all about the base, no high end ego stroker sissy trucks for me.
Power windows and door locks are ubiquitous now. Also the parts are really not that expensive. It might have cost more for workers to take the extra time to make the very few manual window and door lock trucks. Any change from the norm takes extra time and reduces production. Smart move GM!
It makes no sense to offer roll up windows due to the cost of engineering and producing a low volume part, just like manual transmissions and A/C delete.
