Back in November, GM Authority reported that the 2022 Chevy Groove was about to arrive in the Middle East, after General Motors confirmed that the first units of the crossover configured specifically for the region began to be distributed. Now, the automaker has just officially launched the Chevy Groove in all Southwest Asian countries.
The 2022 Chevy Groove comes to the Middle East with an outstanding list of standard technology and equipment features, satisfying young customers looking for an affordable crossover without compromising technology, design or performance. As such, the Groove complements Chevrolet‘s strong utility portfolio in the region as the new entry-level model below the Captiva, Equinox, Traverse, Blazer, Tahoe and Suburban.
“Chevrolet has a long legacy of engineering outstanding SUVs that surpass the expectations of their drivers, and the Chevrolet Groove is the latest iteration of this expertise,” said Chief Marketing Officer, GM Middle East & Africa, Sharon Nishi, in a statement. “The Chevrolet Groove brings a new dimension to our portfolio of SUVs, perfectly designed for drivers who are looking for a vehicle packed with tech, excellent fuel efficiency and stunning good looks, all wrapped up in an affordable package,” she added.
As in other markets where it is sold, the 2022 Chevy Groove is available in Middle East countries in two distinctive trim levels: LT and Premier. Both finishes feature exactly the same powertrain consisting of the naturally aspirated 1.5L engine that develops 110 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque, which in that region is mated exclusively to a continuously variable automatic transmission.
As standard, the 2022 Chevy Groove features an eight-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet’s latest infotainment system, reversing camera and sensors, multifunctional steering wheel with integrated controls, six speakers for the audio system, and LED lights. In addition, the Premier trim adds a panoramic roof and leather upholstery with red stitching that accentuates its dynamic and youthful character.
The new 2022 Chevy Groove is now available for sale at the brand’s entire dealer network in the Middle East, imported from China like every other market in which the small crossover is offered. Customers will be able to choose the Groove in the following four body colors: Metal Red, Candy White, Aurora Silver and European Blue. Suggested prices for each country in the region can be found on the Chevrolet Arabia site.

Can someone help me to understand something because I just don’t get it. WHY does GM and probably other companies as well, make all these “new” models for other countries only? I understand other countries have different emission laws and headlight laws etc., BUT can’t ANY of the “gazillion” SUVs that GM has now be modified for these other countries? I understand this is being touted as an “entry” level SUV to maybe attract younger drivers given its name? Can’t the GROOVE be just as popular here? It seems to me that all these multiple SUVs are overkill? How different can all these models be aside from engine, tranny, size (I guess that matters) and options? Please, someone help me understand. Is it because Mary has all this extra money now since GM has basically abandoned the CAR market that she’s going crazy with all these SUVs????? Thank you.
My 30+ year experience in the industry shows that most major decisions are based on cost. The Groove is likely on the GEM (Global Emerging Market) platform which, I understand, is a low-cost architecture designed for 2nd and 3rd world markets and is not designed to meet US/European regulations. I’m sure others can correct me if I am wrong.
Why can’t we get an vehicle like that for the US. I would buy it.
