American non-profit consumer organization Consumer Reports has given the 2022 Chevy Blazer a “Recommended” rating, marking a considerable turnaround from last year, at which time the organization characterized the 2021 Chevy Blazer as a vehicle to avoid.
Consumer Reports gave the 2022 Chevy Blazer an overall score of 82, placing it in third in the organization’s “Midsized Sport-utility Vehicles” segment. Road Test scoring was set at 83 out of 100, while Predicted Reliability is four out of five and Predicted Owner Satisfaction is three out of five. Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking (City) are both listed as standard, while Automatic Emergency Braking (Highway) is optional. Consumer Reports also gives the Chevy Blazer a fuel mileage rating of 13 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall, with an estimated annual fuel cost of $1,485.
As for the highlights, Consumer Reports praises the 2022 Chevy Blazer for its powertrain and drivetrain, including acceleration, braking, and the transmission. The organization also like the Blazer’s quietness and controls.
As for criticisms, the organization said that the Chevy Blazer has poor visibility and “low dash vents.”
As a reminder, General Motors reintroduced the Chevy Blazer nameplate for the 2019 model year as an all-new midsize crossover, which makes the 2022 Chevy Blazer the fourth model year for the current fifth-generation vehicle. Engine options include the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The naturally aspirated 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine is no longer available. Under the skin, the 2022 Chevy Blazer rides on the GM C1 platform. Production takes place at GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Does anyone buy or not buy based on Consumer Reports ratings?
Is this portion correct?
“Consumer Reports also gives the Chevy Blazer a fuel mileage rating of 13 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall, with an estimated annual fuel cost of $1,485.”
I know the Blazer is not exactly the most fuel efficient vehicle, but 13 mpg in the city? Edmunds reports that it’s 19 in the city for the 3.6l and 21 combined. If you get the 3LT 2.0T, then you get 22 in the city and 25 combined.
I have a Blazer with the 6 cylinder motor. I get 18 mpg around town & 29 mpg on the highway
We have a 6 cylinder Blazer & we get 18 city & 29 highway. It’s the best Chevy we’ve ever owned!
We own a Blazer & we get 18 City & 29 highway. It’s the best Chevy we’ve ever owned!

I’m guessing the 13 MPG has to be a misprint or misinformation. My XT5 consistently gets a bit over 19 MPG in the city and readily achieves 29 on the highway.
We need Blazer XL. Traverse is great but Cherokee L needs a more lifestyle focused rival and GMC is late to the party.
Most people buy these models as a statement vehicle as opposed to any real off roading.
I have a 2021 Blazer with the V6. Started a new job 8/23/21. I travel all around southwestern Michigan. The car has almost 9700 miles so far and has zero problems. Computer mileage is 26.6mpg.
The deal breaker for me about the Blazer is they don’t offer 4wd for it anymore.
Yes they do!
It’s still a foreign vehicle made in Mexico.
I will always avoid foreign vehicles
At least it’s Not made in China.
I am leaning toward purchasing a Blazer in the spring and appreciate these comments. I don’t want a turbo-charged 4 cylinder engine…that is just asking for problems down the road. IMHO, you cannot beat a naturally aspirated Chevy V6. Keep it well maintained and you’re all set for many years of service.
You will be surprised I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu 2.0 turbo and 125,000 and it still runs like when I first got it very impressed. I drive it like I stole it averaging 19 miles to the gallon. On the highway running any where between 80 mph to 100 mph averaging about 24
My 2021 Blazer 3Lt with the V6 and fuel management system ( V4 switch from V6) gets 19mpg around town and has 500mi. CR report in error on several issue. Came standard with all safety options including emergency braking. Low vents are not an issue since they work great . Just turn the vent
Nice to hear your comments Richard.
Consumer Reports. Ha Ha.
Does anyone really give a rodent’s behind what C R says about any vehicle? I don’t.
I went form a 2020 2LT just picked up my 2022 RS red hot blazer. Dano
I have a 2021 Blazer RS with AWD and the V6, excellent power and mpg similar to those cited above. Great quality and finish, fun to drive. CR is often bias against American brands so glad to see this.
Our son loved the Blazer but needed 4WD. So he now has a Honda Passport. It is a very good vehicle.
The Blazer has always had and continues to have awd available.
Oops. I checked with my son, local dealer did not have an AWD Blazer in stock. He needed to replace his wrecked RAV4.
Yes, but awd and 4WD are certainly not the same thing.
We have a 2021 Blazer Premier and it is a great vehicle. Comfortable, drives nice, handles well, very smooth and terrific V6 motor.
I canceled my subscription to CR years ago as they were way too biased toward American products
I have a 2019 and a 2021 blazer rs and I am getting 425 miles on a tank driving to work and home 5 days a week, I was getting 525 miles on a tank on the highway doing 80mph plus. My wife and I absolutely love our blazers!!!!! Plus they can pull our boat with no problem.
So it had been the Telluride. I replaced an SX, after 2yrs with an Outlander that has all the features & gets 36 mpg per mile. Very happy !
Looking at the fueleconomy.gov website, you would have to be driving downhill at all times on the highway to achieve that.
Our 2019 3.6 RS red hot with black trim feels much like our 2016 2SS (455 hp) but with better vision.
LMAO the fuel mileage they noted is so far off it isn’t funny. I live in Tampa, and we average 18.1mpg in the city. If we take a trip to Orlando, we average north of 25mpgs. The visibility is perfectly fine and we have the v.6 engine. The interior is comfortable, the cabin is quiet, and for a 2021 we haven’t had any issues. So, yeah. CR is just b.s.
The blazer still needs a bigger infotainment screen 8inch screen don’t cut it in 2022
I have 2020 blazer best car I ever owned
The sad part is that this will lead to more people relying on a GM 3.6L engine for their daily driver.
And never one of them is going to hate GM after they have to pay the bill on an engine-out timing chain replacement.
